Floyd or Stones

Postby strike wolf on Fri Dec 28, 2007 6:18 pm

Personally I believe that Pink Floyd is the better band but while at a music store earlier today (searching for the cds that I wanted for Christmas.) i got involved with a slight argument over whether Pink Floyd or the Rolling stones were a better band. So, I thought I would ask the CC community. Who's better?

Well it's all subjective so you can't really win an argument about it.

I prefer Floyd over Stones, but if you're in a club, Stone is probably better.

Depends on what mood your in, really. Also depends on what part of Pink Floyd you are talking about. Some Pink Floyd songs I really can't stand, but others are some of my all-time favorites. I'm going to go with the Stones, however, because I like their style of rock more. Plus you can't beat Sympathy for the Devil.

There are better songs than Sympathy for the Devil

Wish You Were Here.
Time
Comfortably Numb
And many more by Pink Floyd alone.

Just by the Stones? Well, I can't actually think of the name of my favorite Stones song so that makes it more difficult.

I used to love Pink Floyd, but in the last maybe 3 or 4 years I find myself liking them less & less. I still like them, but I really go for the guitar driven "The Wall" kind of stuff. The trippy "Dark Side of the Moon" stuff has worn off some. Still a great band though.

Hated the Stones as a teenager, but grown a little bit on me so that I respect them and will leave them on the radio. But I don't own any Stones CDs, and a few Floyd ones....

"Paint It Black" and "Brown Sugar" are great Stones songs....

One of their best (top 3 for me). Good song.

Overall, I do have to say that I respect the Stones. A very consistent band who managed to stay together despite a few swaps at guitar and have a decent variety in the sound of their songs. I tend to prefer their more jazzy sounding songs to others.
