New Movies - December 2007 Version

Lots of good movies have come out recently or will be coming out soon. Let's discuss them!!

I saw No Country for Old Men last week. Definitely not my favorite Cohen Brothers film, probably not in the top five, but pretty good. The temporal vortex that the movie seemed to take place in is probably the most interesting bit that has provoked the most thought out of me.

Boy oh boy, I really want to see Lars and the Real Girl! Looks fantastic.

Also, can't wait for The Golden Compass. I really want to read the book first, though, and it's perpetually checked out at the library. I might just have to break down and buy it.

Let's see... what else...

American Gangster looks pretty good, actually.

I'd be willing to see Dan in Real Life.

Love in the Time of Cholera has gotten so-so reviews, but I suppose I can't really refuse to see a movie based on a masterpiece of Latin American literature, can I?

OH!, the Darjeeling Limited was wooonderful. Saw it right after it came out, and it filled me with glorious emotion.

I also want to see the supposedly-horrible Martian Child.

What else? What else?

I'd like to see the Darjeeling Limited. Looks like an interesting film.

As for the Golden Compass, I'd probably watch the film first. I'll see it, but I'd wager (and the reviews probably agree) that it won't quite live up to the literary treatment. I'd have thought it would be a better watch without comparing it to the book, and then the book will be even better when you read it!

Hmm. I am not going to go and see the golden compass because the books are so SO good, and while i was excited by the idea watered down lots (or so teh reviews say) for marketing purposesy. Guiscard you're prolly right about the order.

*I lost my movie innocence about 5 minutes after it said 'A long time ago in a galaxy far far away' at the start of the phantom menace

Yep... And if the movie is any indication, it was one violent ass struggle.

I think it's the one with Will Smith that's coming out (or has, not sure). Basically from what I've seen, he's the last human on earth.
