This is really happening!

I'm sure some of you have seen the BMW for the Hydrogen 7 series. Honda, Chevy, and Toyota all have their foot in the ring with models being designed and tested. It's all a very limited release at first since the infrastructure of hydrogen distribution plants doesn't exist. So to start they are creating stations in Southern California mostly and the cars are only being released in that area. Over time as the technology improves and more people are willing to buy this trend will most likely sweep the world.

Review of the Honda Clarity

For those who know nothing about Hydrogen power and fuel cells, I suggest reading the information in the first link and doing additional research if you are interested. For those who already understand the concept you might be more interested in the facts:

The 09 Clarity can currently run 270 miles on a fill up. 1 kg of hydrogen yields roughly as much power as 1 gallon of gas. The clarity gets 68 miles per kg, higher than any hybrid car gets on gasoline. 1kg of hydrogen costs about $5 per kg currently so its more expensive from gas, but you can drive so much further on it that it ends up costing much less. Then consider the fact that it is not dependent on gas and produces water as the only waste product, and you are saving much more. Additionally as the demand increases and technology improves the efficiency will get better and the price of hydrogen will come down. There are even plans to create solar powered machines which can turn tap water into H2 in your own backyard. Pay for the product and then you have free, clean transportation for life!

This is probably the most important technological step in recent history. It has the power to change the world drastically. Welcome to the future!

Oil is quite finite when compared to Hydrogen...most of the Universe is made of Hydrogen!

yes! i couldn't believe when I saw a comercial about it, but this is good stuff. I just hope the car becomes affordable as soon as possible. I'm not super pro-environment and whatever, but this is fantastic news.

What's even more interesting is that there is a Hydrogen-Wind production site located in Minot, ND! That was a big surprise! And North Dakota college students converted a CAT tractor to being a hydrogen fuel vehicle!

So, farming equipment will be converted to hydrogen cells too!

i live in so. cal, and about 4 years ago, i took a tour at some alternative energy place. Apparently at the time, only 8 people had the car in CA. (The Governator) But this is great! There is unlimited hydrogen in the universe.

Also, Air Products has their corporate headquarters in Trexlertown PA, just 15 minutes from where I go to school. One of my best friends is the son of the Vice President actually. That's proposed as the location of a future fueling station, so hopefully I can get in on this gig within a few years.

I'm currently driving a Civic Hybrid but a Clarity would blow that out of the water. More fun to drive, more efficient, less pollution and lower operating costs.

I can say this much...hydrogen is better than pig shit!

The Germans have had this for a while now. The Hydrogen 7 series has "been out" for a while now. But it hasn't been sold to be public, as of yet. It'll probably be like 200 grand anyway, because bmw likes to over price their cars now.

Right. The technology has been in process for years now, but public sales are actually going to happen which is the exciting part. Within a year these will be on the road for public use (even if its only in very limited releases)

the problem is its mostly in suns

someone make a plastic bag powered car.

why not just electric. we have the technology, we just need more people to fight for it.
