war of the worlds was a godawful film, what the hell are you talking about.

any hollywood director whose made a movie in the last 10 years should be disqualified. They're all entertainment masturbators, not giving a shit about quality film and just making movies purely for the sex scenes, the action sequences, and everything cliche.(not that action movies aren't fun to watch, i love them, but there not 'great' directing)

Alejandro Jodorosky, definetely. Best director i've ever seen. Check him out if you haven't, some of his movies we're illegal in the united states for many years, but their legal now.

The Coen Brothers
Tim Burton
Scorsese (sp?)

I can think of several directors who care much more for film content.

But, then, it helps when they are usually the writers of their films too.

I'm sorry, but you are incorrect.

Tim Burton

Mel Brooks, Speilberg, Akira Kurosawa, and the person who did the LOTR series. (The name escapes me)

Great epic story, dude... If you read that and The Canterbury Tales you will have a great feel for old-style lit.

It's an Epic...! You have to read it as a poem...

I have never seen any other format for that or Canterbury.

Micheal Crichton wrote a book called Eaters of the Dead... That is what The 13th Warrior is based on.
