Statehood Day

100 years ago today, Oklahoma became the 46th state admitted to the US.
It must seem odd to people in England, France, Germany, etc that this country is so new. There are no buildings or churches in my state over 150 years old, and probably very few over 100.
It gets too hot here in the summer, way too cold in the winter. We don't have snow, we have ice storms, and we have to constantly worry about tornados. An average 54 tornadoes strike the state per year—one of the highest rates in the world.
Among the most ecologically diverse states, Oklahoma is one of four to harbor more than 10 distinct ecological regions, containing eleven within its borders, more per square mile than in any other state. Marked by differences in geographical diversity between its western and eastern halves, eastern Oklahoma touches eight ecological regions, while its western half holds three.
Anyway... Today is Statehood Day.
I have no problem saying I am from Oklahoma.
