now to explain the backround before the flag. this is a clothing firm called Burberry, which is worn by all chavs and fake Burberry, worn by wannabe chavs. now Burberry was originally worn by some of the golfing paternity. then the chavs thought it would be good to wear this design and it is banned from quite afew places up and down the country.

After much Internet debating on various forums, the general conclusion is that you don't have an American equivalent. Part 'gang', part wigger, part white trash, part jock...

Is this situation sort of like the American middle class who get a peak out of looking down there noses at other Americans who are only slightly lower on socio-economic scale? If so I suspect this thread says more about you guys then it does these "chavs".

No. Not really. Its both a term of mocking and something to be proud of (if you're particularly chavish yourself).

To be honest, all the 'Chav' shit is a little ridiculous. Until this year I lived on a pretty bad estate in Leeds (Woodhouse / Blenheim if anyone knows the area - now I live in Meanwood, which is nicer). Been jacked up far too many times. Theres a lot of shit that goes on - people being stabbed, beaten unconscious... someone I know last week got savaged by some guys dog on his way home from town. If by any chance you could go unmolested and question a typical resident (who would certainly be defined as 'chav' by the mass media) they'd tell you to f*ck reet off. Its a little bit of a misnomer used by people like Ron to seem a bit 'street'. Same with the car, really. If you're truly chav scum (referring to location mostly) then there's no way you'd get away with modding a car and keeping your rims and sound system. Lower middle class whiteboy bizniz really.
