The Next Great American Ban

Hey everyone. I know I am new here and all but I am enjoying the games and am starting to get a feel for the forums.

So here's the deal. FOX has another reality TV show out. This one is very much like American Idol but it's for bands. My cousin is the drummer for a band called Denver and the Mile High Orchestra. They have a great sound that I'm sure most of you will like on some level. All I'm asking is that you watch the show, it's on FOX tonight at 8PM eastern. His band will be the first one to compete tonight and he opens their performance with a drum solo. I sure would appreciate if you guys would all watch it and then if you like it vote for them!

Thanks guys! 8)

I'm pretty effective. Initially I was thinking it was an xtratobasco monkey becuase he was band. That title has some powerfull emotion in it.

So your cousin is in a band that is willing to totally sell there name, image and sound to a corporation like FOX?

I bet they suck

There is no integrity in commercial music

The thing is though, given the choice between preserving my artistic integrity and getting bloody, fucking rich, I'd choose getting rich. You can't blame them for it. You gotta blame the system.

I still think its weak. I personally would choose integrity, and infact, I do. Been in a band for 6 years now.

Its just cheap and tacky and will forever be on of those 'reality tv' people who are now just living off the fact they are famous. None of the idol singers will ever be able to drop the 'idol tag'

And yeah, the system is to blame as well. It's full of people in it to make money, and that's it. That's where shit bands come from. It's a cycle that feeds itself.

I turned it on just at the tail end of the judges lecturing Denver to ditch "the clown suit" to the boos of the crowd.

The first episode was more fun because they had all the bands that were so horrible they got on the show to just be torpedoed.

Yeah I know. I would say the same thing if I didn't have any talent.

Oh, don't get me wrong. It's totally lame. But the way things are now, the music industry markets the name and face more than the music. And that environment is not conducive to making great bands. It's just going to produce a bunch of whiny, little fucktards.

But I'm giving the American Pop market too much credit. There's still plenty of good out there in other countries and even here (albeit a bit more underground).

The only good music is underground. I never used to like hip-hop at all, and that's because the only hip-hop music i was exposed to was on tv or commercial radio, which is all shit.

But good, underground hip-hop (where the singer isn't singing about themselves or their crew, or how many ho's they have) is sick, as I one day discovered.

Hehe, I know what you mean. I'm into metal, and let me just say: 98% of all mainstream metal is shit.

Scandinavians are my heroes though.

Well, Norway looks somewhat like an e-guitar, so there might definitely be a connection there.

You mean the show that no one is watching?

It will never complete the season. Horrible ratings.
