If you know someone who needs help

Postby luns101 on Wed Oct 24, 2007 10:06 pm

It's been awhile since I've been online. I've been taking care of a friend who is going through a hard time and can't play much.

Anyway, I'm sure a lot of you know about the fires here in Southern California. My church is trying to help & assist those who have lost their homes. Also those who are displaced temporarily. If you know of someone who needs assistance please forward this link to them. Thanks.

SoCalRefugees who need help

God bless.

This is exactly what more people need to be doing. I don't live in California but I'll ask around to see if there's someone I'm connected to that needs this information. Thank you, luns.

I agree. and I know some people (a church) that went down to New Orleans to help, maybe they can brain storm.

and just FYI I heard the Lt. Governor of California on the radio today he said they only have 800 reserves to help and demands that Bush let the other thousands in Iraq (who have been on their 3rd rotation) to be released and to come and replace the cops and firefighters who need some rest and sleep.

How close are you to where OnlyAmbrose lives. He was saying that there was an evacuation near his place.

Riverside County. We're right next door to them. There's been no fires here but we see great clouds of smoke coming over the mountains into the valleys. We lost power throughout our city for about 2 hours...I'm not sure if it was due to the fires though.

Today the authorities said the fires might possibly make their way into Riverside County itself. Once again, if you know someone who needs a place to stay or some basic supplies please click on the link above.

Just wanted to pass on some information from those in our church who are coordinating relief efforts. I'm going to leave in about 1 1/2 hours to go meet up with another team and deliver some stuff to people in norther San Diego county. Here's a message I just received from our pastor so maybe it will give people here a chance to help out through other organizations if they want.

10/24- 10:00 am

Hi Friends,

Chorus is serving with the fires in two tangible ways: OCEANSIDE RELIEF and CHAPARRAL HIGH SCHOOL:

1) OCEANSIDE RELIEF- Chorus is again sending supplies to New Song Church in Oceanside 1 pm todayas they host several hundred evacuees. Here’s what they are requesting:

- Diapers (please only donate sealed boxes/bags) – Baby Formula – Baby Wipes – Children’s Pain Reducer (over the counter) – Safety Pins – Chap Stick – Pedalite – Red Vines & Skittles for kids – Sugar Free Foods for diabetics – Underwear or men and women (XXL sizes)

2) CHAPARRAL HIGH SCHOOL CENTER- They especially need toys for toddlers and may need volunteers this evening.

Thanks to the many people who are serving and for making the deliveries. Thanks to French Valley Stater Brothers for the huge donations yesterday. We were able to deliver a trailer of much-needed supplies.

Dave

I hope that helps people know which kind of supplies people need the most.

I couldn't find any XXL men or women to help you out.

Obviously I think you had a typo there. Our church is also coordinating with people in your area to help out. I'll pm you with some other contacts.
