Bad beat stories-

I see quite a few players on here that plays poker online or otherwise ( brick&mortar). I've got some gross bad beat stories that I've promised myself to not ever repeat because when I do- I puke it's so sick.

Unlike the World Series of Poker, I won't charge you a dollar to share them. Humoring other players as well as venting some steam will be rewarding enough.

Oh- if you're on the other end giving the beats those would be entertaining as well.

well actually i was in Vegas last weekend. i flopped 2 pair, raised 20. guy raised all in for about 130. knew he was bluffing so i called. he had 2 clubs and there was one on the board already. turn and river came up clubs!!! :x

however i did manage to leave that table up 40. got most of my chips back from the same player :D

Guess I should share one of many I've had. I'll tell you the most recent one.

In 2-5 NL game two weeks ago...... I've got KsJs on the button, several people limp in and guy raises makes it 25. I call, BB calls and 2 guys in early position call. Flop come QT4 rainbow. Everyone checks to the raiser- he leads out for 75. I make the call and the BB callls. We're now 3 handed- turn comes an A giving me the stones. Guy moves all in with his remaining 280+ ..... I beat em in the pot.

River brings T.
Now the board is QT4 A T . He looks at me and says 'I sucked out on you 'and shows me TT for quads. He scoops a huge pot- I puke and have another sick beat. Unlike Kid- I didn't recover from losing that hand and ended up stuck for the session. ](*,)

that one was pretty ugly scott....

yesterday i was playing some plo8

going into the river i was a 68 percent favorite for the whole pot, and he rivered a 2 pair which 3/4 him the pot and crippled me in a tourney.

Ad 2s Ts Ac] - me
[8h 5s 4s Ah - villain
[Ks 4d 6s] [2d] - 100 percent of the pot is mine on the turn
Ks 4d 6s 2d] [5h] - 25 percent is mine at the river.

was silly.

You had Ad 3s Ts Ac you mean (typo).......... you don't have a low yet on the turn. A3 gives you the nut low and a scoop at that point- with A2 you have the nut low draw. Villian has the current low with A5 but the 2 pair on the end sucks.

he does steal half the pot on the turn and gets another quarter on the river.

I don't have an especially bad beat, so I'll give the best hand I ever got, or at least the most loaded. I started with QQ, which is pretty nice, but the flop brought a Q 9 9. So I have a full-house, just hoping someone will bet with 3 nines or something. The turn is another queen, and no one except me has anything, but we carry on to the river anyways. It's... a nine. So, despite having a loaded hand, no one else could have possibly had enough to bet against me.

Only got a couple chips for it.

Hate when that happens- you're praying for them to catch something to get paid off. Definitely a bad beat in a different sense! [-o<

That's not as bad as it sounds. He would have beaten you if a Q, T, 4 or A came on the river. Giving him 10 outs and there are are only 44 unknown cards (23% chance of winning). Sure catching the ten made his best hand, but it wasn't too tough for him to win. And he had the best hand preflop, as well as the best hand post flop. The only time you were ahead was the turn, but thats where all the money went in and thats definitely why it sucks.

Against a made hand on the flop, he has 10 outs twice, roughly 1 1/2 - 1 dog ( 38%) to improve. He was up against a made hand on the turn with 46 unseen cards (not sure what deck you're playing from but I'm pretty sure casinos play with 52 cards ) he was roughly 3 1/2- 1 (22%) dog when all the money got in the middle. The size of the pot wasn't $1000 when he put his last $280+, the pot was around $260 so he was matching the pot giving him even on his money when he was 3 1/2 -1 dog. It wasn't just the fact that he filled up or quads. Bad beats are bad mathematical plays/bet/calls as well as a suck out.

You are right that it wasn't a 2 outer on the river (22-1) or something extremely dramatic to win the pot but a bad beat to me is getting all your money in the middle and getting outdrawn. I didn't want to get too technical in this thread - it was meant for players to share their stories and have a laugh but I am glad you brought it up.

* explanation doesn't account for a running pair after the flop for him to fill up as we were discussing what he needed on the river.
