you know if you start all these "Indepence Day" threads they`ll get LOCKED DOWN. just like before. you can only celebrate American Independence day. :roll:

It was eventually placed under British protection back in the 1800s so that the Boers who left the Cape and now surrounded it couldn't annex it. It developed from there on, eventually becoming independent.

Why? The USA are nothing special, a lot of nations have an independence day of their own. So why shouldn't they receive an honourable mention and be celebrated?

there isn't a british independance day, since last time we were successfully invaded was in 1066, and the invaders never left :cry:

besides, i'm not sure if anyone knows the date for when the romans left britain, though they know the year (I think it was 421-ish)
