The weather outside is frightful

One thing about living in Wyoming, and that is that it has snowed here at least once each month (not in the last year, but still) and there is currently ice and frost outside right now. 32 degrees Farenheight. Which for here, is cool weather, not cold. Cold is -40 degrees Farenheight (which is the usual temp during winter).
What is cold where you live?

In England, I guess -5 celsuis is the lowest it really gets. Scotland gets colder as its more north...
Cold is generally anything below 10 to most people here, althoguh I only start wearing 2 layers when it goes down to around 5.

Im from Nova Scotia, where it often gets to -10 C , but have spent much time in Northern Ontario where I have a pic of me riding a skidoo bare-assed naked with a thermometer in the pic saying -42 F.....(lost a bet New Years Day 1974).....I now live on Vancouver Island in BC....and although it gets cold as hell on the mainland......we hardly ever get below -2 C or so here.

I live in the subtropics. Today the high will be in the 90s (mid 30s). By November, daily highs will be around 70 (20). In February, we might get a day or two around 50 (10).
In the summer its very very hot, in the 100s (around 40) for months on end, but I don't mind it so much.
I might be spending NEXT winter in Michigan, about which I am SORE AFRAID.

Britain is a funny old place.
If it was in the same latitude and longditude but in the southern hemisphere, it would be a barren, frosty tundra.
It is only the "gulf stream" circulation that keeps it warmer than this.
I mean, look at the map of the world, and trail your finger along from britain to america, Britain is far more northerley to NY, and other places that freeze over majorly come winter time.
So, thanks to the Gulf stream, us Brits dont get it too bad in the winter.

I guess it doesn't help that my town is in a valley in the Rocky Mountains.

Oh well, it is fun to make fun of people who are used to 50 degree weather in winter, or even 30. 50 is good weather, 30 is a light jacket here. Foreign exchange students usually have it the roughest though.

You don't need to go south, you just have to go to the other side of the gulf stream and you will freeze nicely. You need to compare your weather to places like
http://www.grc.k12.nf.ca/climatecanada/wabush.htm Wabush, Labrador.
Here is today's forecast for the town: Cloudy. Snow beginning this afternoon changing to ice pellets late this afternoon. Snow and ice pellet amount 2 cm. Wind becoming southeast 20 km/h this afternoon. High zero.
Compare to London: (Can't find a simple text display) Tomorrow is going to have temperatures with a high of 12 and a low of 8 (apparently the coldest night in the 10 day forecast and it's still massively higher than the high for the same latitude across the pond.)

Muy_thai -40 sucks.
I live in Canada and we only get that for a day or so every couple of years.
Most years we get a week or two of -30C which is around -22F, that's bad enough.
I can't even believe you posted in that best place to live thread with your freaking everything's frozen here half the year location.

But hey, I was born here, and Ilike the wide open spaces, the moumtains, and the fact that there are no major cities or pollution.

Including Hooters, Yellowstone, Jackson Hole, and all of the other great places to visit as well?
