Is England a country?

No, it is not recognized as so by any other country. It has no ambassadors, embassies, or Olympic team. It is merely a territorial region within the United Kingdom.

oh and WTF is with the fact that Great Britain, UK, and Britain are all used interchangeably even though they all refer to different areas. Great Britain is just Scotland, Wales and England. The United Kingdom is Great Britain plus Northern Ireland. Britain refers to the United Kingdom plus all their little island territories.

the official term used to describe both england and scotland is constituent country.

Wales is a principality, Northern Ireland is a province.

It is a country...

Do you know the origins of the word "england"

After the germanic invasions, which happened after the roman dis-occupation, the germanics then inhabited the area that is england, and called it "angle-land" after the angle tribes that occupied england..

our lazy pronounciation then came down to england.

Also, we re-named scotland and wales...the word welsh (ie a resident of wales) in old anglo-saxon means "foreigner"...and "scot" was an offensive name for the jocks.

England are the ultimate conquerers and assimilaters...why the f*ck would UN require a disproportionate number of us to deal with every other fucker?

cos we are born winners.

England, as you know, is the spawner of industry and innovation...

without British minds like ours, and possibly some other european cultures like the scandinavians, irish and germans, this world would be in a 3rd world state...

If you have a problem with England or the UK, you have a problem with me. I'm sure there are plenty of British, Scottish, Welsh and Irish people who think there is nothing wrong with the England not being a seperate country.

well, china wouldnt have developed the computer...europeans did that...like they did steel production,. furnacing, electronic principles, artistic principles, industrial principals, physcial principles, electrical principles...the list goes on...shame there isn't a "white pride" week, to celebrate the brittish working classes who made this possible to the rest of the world by their own hard graft....that aint a racist comment...but britain really did invent the structures of business and industry throughout the industrial years.
