Adam and Eve had Cain, Abel and Seth. And as it is common in scripture to leave out the females in genealogy, they more than likely had daughters also.

God married them.

I say its all symbolism, in fact I believe in evolution, and to put it simply I think God is just energy, energy that spurred the evolution forward and created stars and such, and eventually there were many adams and eves coming out of evolution as the first humans.

I could go on about what I think the apple and snake mean if anyone's interested...

But surely you,on another thread, have condemned incest as an absolute wrong . Is it not a sin and does the bible not condemn it,are we all descended from people that went to hell. Strange for God to have created such a bug in his program was it not. Unless of course the early scholars got it wrong and what we consider sin is in fact the way to go, there must be an awfull lot of miserable celibates stoking the fires right now

What makes you think Adam and Eve went to hell? In the beginning there had to be incest, or the population would die out. If sin caused one to go to hell, we would all be going, because all have sinned.

god could have thought of making about 1000 people to start off with, that way, it wouldn't have come to incest so quickly.

if it's symbolic, then why did jesus die to save the earth from a sin that was supposed to be caused by adam and eve?

Even Eve cam from Adam (his rib). We are all related. Bro....

And I most certainly believe Adam and Eve to be literal.

I think that even when it was first written it was probably symbolic, certainly the majority of theologians take this view. The literal view would be amusing if the implications of Fundamentalist belief were not so alarming in both East and West.
