Im suprised there isnt already a thread out there...

Well no matter what happened on September 11th, we should remember them. And thanks all the firefighters and police that died and that are still serving today.

Too Corny?

In class, fifth grade. No one at the time realized how important it was... I think the way we were told we thought it was just a demolition of a building we'd never heard of before.

America's Number One Collapse Expert Thought WTC Bombed
FDNY commander said south tower implosion "too even" to be caused by jet fuel

Prison Planet | September 10, 2007
Paul Joseph Watson

A man described as "the premiere collapse expert in the country" thought the collapse of the south tower of the WTC was caused by explosives and not jet fuel, before the implosion of the north tower killed him on 9/11.

Deputy Chief Ray Downey, the head of the FDNY's Special Operations Command, was also described by colleagues as "the most knowledgeable person on building collapses there was," and 9/11 Commissioner Timothy Roemer referred to Downey as a "very, very respected expert on building collapse."

According to a World Trade Center Task Force interview with FDNY' Chaplain Father John Delendick, immediately after the collapse of the south tower at 9:59am, Delendick met with Downey below the nearby World Financial Center and asked him if jet fuel had brought about the bizarre and sudden implosion of the building. According to Delendick, Downey "said at that point he thought there were bombs up there because it was too even."

Deputy Chief Raymond M. Downey, Commanding Officer of the Special Operations Command (SOC), died in the line of duty, while helping others escape from the fire and collapse scene of the twin towers at the World Trade Center on Tuesday, September 11, 2001.
Downey was a highly respected figure, having commanded rescue operations at both the 1993 WTC bombing and the Oklahoma City bombing in 1995. His colleagues simply referred to him as "God" or "The Master of Disaster".

Downey was a 39-year FDNY veteran and the most highly decorated firefighter in its history.

Fire Chief Mike Antonucci , Downey's best friend, said that Downey's hobby was "To study building collapses, what affected the engineering of buildings, how they [would] weaken and how he could respond and stay safe."

The weight of Downey's eyewitness testimony and his conclusion that bombs brought down the south tower is of massive significance as we approach the anniversary of 9/11, a date of mourning for Downey's family due to the fact that he was tragically killed later that day following the collapse of the north tower as he tried to help others escape.

Downey's testimony is added to the assertions of hundreds of leading academics, scientists, former government and military officials and researchers , who have all questioned the impossible collapse of both the twin towers and WTC 7, and singled out incendiary or explosive devices as the only means by which the structures could have fell in the manner they did.

Please show some respect.....as an ex firefighter, I still shudder at the visuals the memory brings...and I still to this day grieve. I'm proud of the response of my fellow Canadians of the east coast who helped and comforted those who were forced to land there. The healing process will never end, and I hope nobody tries to make light of this. My son is an actor, and had a lead in an A&E movie about Flight 93. He told me it was a life-changing experience. And I agree. It was for many of us.

u guys have 364 other days to disuss this, y the hell would u start debating falsifications about what happened that day today?

actual people died today 6 years ago, let it rest and just give a moment of silence for all the innocent people that died in those towers, in the planes, and died rescuing others.

America has a number one collapse expert? Can he help me with my self confidence problem? Or England's batting?

I was asleep in South Korea when a friend woke us up. It was scary as hell. The girls thought they were watching Die Hard or something for the first few minutes cos they didn't understand the announcer on the TV. The world really did changethat day, though.

Exactly, if you want to discuss 9/11 conspiracy theories, start a thread about them. This isn't it.

EDIT: High School. I was in Chemistry class, the teacher had the news on just after the first plane had hit. An announcement was given to the teachers to shut off the TVs and not tell the kids anything about it, since they didn't want a panic. Of course we didn't listen. Our English teacher tried to co-opt it for an English assignment (the buildings hadn't even fallen yet and people were using it for their own purposes) which didn't work because we didn't want to get a grade on our personal thoughts about the whole thing. One of my classmates started crying during 2nd period and walked off campus, she had relatives that worked in the building.

Whatever your beliefs about who did it or what happened on that day doesn't change the fact that 3000 people died. Whether it was the acts of an evil government or 20 whackos with box cutters, it doesn't make the victims any less dead.

HAHA!

I love americans for this reason

So well trained by their 'citizenship classes' and brainwashing government, that you refuse to believe that them nice people in congress would ever lie to you or fool you. Open your eyes....

As I have said before, you are not free-minded individuals, you are well trained puppies. They will expend you, like they did the firefighters, and you will still come back roaring......"USA USA USA!"

"what this country needs is another pearl harbour"

-Paul wolfowitz.

PS. can you prove that 6 million people were killed during the holocaust? An independent commision have only ever found evidence for 400,000, thats a factor of 15 out.

It's like that film I saw once called 'Night of the Living Dead', just when you think a boring discussion has died it rises up again to consume the brains of the living...

1. I don't believe a word that you conspiracy nutjobs have to say (and yes Xtra, I read the book-blurb you copied and pasted... it's just a bald assertion with no actual evidential content, he may have been an expert, but the quote you've given us is just an opinion and as it stands lacks any facts to support it).

2. It seems somewhat distasteful to ride our hobby-horses up and down these boards debating this topic at this particular time. For many today will be a very sad day, and we should respect that.

3. Regardless of what we all think happened, I think that the most important task for today is to take some time to remember the tragic loss of life that occured during the towers' collapse. Our differences of opinion about facts don't matter; but our underlying humanity ought to allow us to share a brief moment of reflection on the tragedy that this date stands as a memorial to.

It doesn't matter whether they lied to us or not, people died. Let's remember them rather than bickering over who did what and why.

Stop taking the focus off of the victims, you asshole.

3000 people died in one senseless act. Whether the planes were hijacked or the buildings were blown up doesn't change that very simple fact.

Iraq, despite the administration's claims to the contrary, has nothing to do with 9/11. Iraq is a political power play and nothing more.
