Why did I pick such a bad name?

I don't want to be called "Yo Kugel!"

Postby Kugelblitz22 on Fri Sep 07, 2007 8:05 am

When I signed up for this site I picked one of the most bad ass names ever. Kugelblitz. German for ball lightning, the Kugelblitz is elusive, dangerous, fast and unpredictable. The perfect metaphor for my playing style, the Kugelblitz possesses electromagnetic properties that scientists don't fully understand.

With such a formidable and unassailable name, imagine my chagrin when so many of my CC brethren insist on calling me "Kugel". As in:
"GL Kugel"
"GG Kugel"
"N1 Kugel" Of course the problem with this is people are effectively calling me "ball" My name should command more respect than a "GG ball." And for the sake of my ESL folk, ball is slang for testicle in English...

The only other thing Kugel can refer to is the Jewish desert casserole, pictured here. Hardly the sort of image that strikes fear into the heart of opponents. Image

Oh why did I pick such a horrible name?

It wasn't that bad.

 Ha ha ha! That post made me laugh so much - partly because I have a similar problem. I picked my username on the basis that flash is my nick name (from Gordon, obviously) and leg8 the way I always wrote my tags for my second name (Leggate - Leg eight get it?).

I can appreciate your problem as when I first started posting here people call me flashleg or worse flashlegs! It seems like I'm forever to be called after some kind of flasher or foot fetisher.

If only I could go back and put a _ in there :(

Didn't bother me though.

Although, I have to admit, it's not as bad as you think.

At least the meaning of your name is obvious.

I don't think the same could be said for mine. Or Syzygy's.

(Unless of course, I'm wrong, and Syzygy does mean something)

Syzygy stems from my interest in astronomy and (were)wolves.

Yes, I'm mentally unbalanced, I know.

I have the same problem, and it wasn't until after I registered that people would mistake me for being thai, but I'm not, I'm just a fan of the sport. :?

It's better than Kugs.

But it's the state to shorten someone's name. Everyone sees "blitz" as a seperate word, so they just stick with the first word in your name.

Kugel-if you were cool-you'd know that every name gets shortened. Look at McDonald's (Micky D's), Kentucky fried chicken (KFC), Puff Daddy (P Didy) etc.

My name's Laurie and people would shorten it to Laur (which I hate). But, it's all because my parents weren't cool

HA HA! I haven't had problems with my name. ;) Except that it's often spelled Firecoal. (When they first meet me. )IT'S NOT FIRECOAL! IT DOESN'T MEAN FIRE COAL! IT'S NOT A MISSPELLING EITHER! IT MEANS A DIFFERENT THING!

Also my shorted name is Fir. ;) Which I don't mind even if it's a type of tree. It's also the name of a female character in Fire Emblem 6. ;) But I can deal with them both. I can only deal with the latter, because Fire Emblem is awesome, and she looks cute. ;)

I know some, but admitedly not much, but still see it as one of the most devastating styles out there.
