Everyone is entitled to their own tastes and opinions. I don't know any of the people who posted, but probably many of them are at an age that they can't allow themselves to like anything so innocent and corny 'cause it's too kid-ish. I'm in my late 40's with teen and pre-teen kids of my own so I can afford to like it. If you're about the same age as them, good for you for deciding for yourself what you like. You don't have to like music that is harsh-sounding, angry, sexually explicit, cynical or suicidally self-pitying to be mature.
Sure it's corny, but the choreography (dance) was incredibly creative and complex, and well executed, on both HSM's, but especially #2. Just look at the opening and closing numbers and "I Don't Dance." They must have had to practice themselves to exhaustion. As for the music, Zach and Vanessa especially have incredible voices, and although most of the songwriting was pretty good, I dont think anything else in either movie comes up to #1's "Stick to the Status Quo." Very catchy and, I think, worthy of "Grease."
So what other musicals do you like? Lots of music from great musicals written a long time ago is still touching people. From what I saw in some "what's your favorite song" type threads, much of what is listened to right now will quickly be forgotten. But that's just my taste.
