Guitar help needed

I'm upgrading my guitar and am torn between two models; the Epiphone SG G-400 Custom and the Rally GL 400 Custom. The Epiphone is cheaper, but the Rally comes with the option of either an ebony or ivory finish. Rally is a much unheard of make, but i know them to be reliably good, whilst Epiphone is a more mainstream manufacturer. The Rally in question is actually made at an Epiphone factory though! I can't afford to pay over £170 (thats $340) for the guitar, so any other suggestions would be welcome.

I can't vote.

You need to play them both as much as you can before deciding.

Buy the one that feels and sounds right for you.

I don't know enough about the consistancy of those two. I know if I pick up an Ernie Ball they allways play nearly identical. Pick up a Fender and every one is almost completely different. So I suggest playing more than one of each model as well.

Have fun and let us know how it turns out.

Personally, I'd hold out and save for a real Gibson over an Epiphone or Rally.
It seems you're a fan of the style, and the Les Paul and SG are much better guitars.
If you want to stick with one of these 2, then I'd probably say the Ep. Although admittedly I don't know too much about the Rally. I'm just assuming Ep makes a better copy.

Hold out, save your $$ for the real thing. If you're diligent about saving, then it'll be worth the wait.
