Why would I be drinking at 2PM, some of you may wonder.
Well, besides the fact that I am a functional alcoholic....
At 12:45pm, I was told that E-MU Systems, the subsidiary of Creative Labs that I was employed by, has been dissolved...
That's right, motherfuckers, I just got laid off...
On fucking Friday.
I have never been fired or laid off before in 12 years of having a job.
I have never felt so empty and pissed off.
I want to hurt something.

Are you going to get some kind of severance? You should see if they'll transfer you to a different slice of the company or something, if you've got a good record then you've got a chance they'll try to retain you.

I am getting 6 weeks severance...
It sucks. And they won't transfer me... I was an SQA Engineer and there are no openings for that or anything else.
Also, I am taking a full class load for the next 3 semesters so I'll have my second degree, and now the problem about finding a job that can pay me the same as I was with the flexibility of the schedule is going to be fucked up.

if the worst comes to the worst AKD, weigh up who cost you the most, girlfriend,cats or dog. then get rid. oh and tell your girlfriend to get a job if she is not studying to hard. in all fairness, you should be all right in the long run, you`ll just have to ride the hard times like most people do.

Britain has a shit severance package compared to the rest opf europe (5 weeks severance for every year worked) as opposed to spain who get 6 months severance for every year of continous employment by a company.
My heart goes out to ya man, I hope you can get yourself sorted soon ( well, after havin a week or 2 off anyway)
