Mookie , this has already been discussed, years ago...America a Republic not a democracy...Like Ancient Rome...Who the founding fathers , modeled after...Not Ancient Greece...The 1st Democracy...
-------- I will search for that thread, bring to the top...
-------- As for The Pope's ring....I seen the History of them...I think it was the History channel...They showed Rings of the Popes.... Maybe they were pictures of the rings, before they were destroyed....When Popes , were wearing them in public......

ConfederateSS.out!(The Blue and Silver Rebellion)...

A Republic is a FORM of democracy.

This is a point that ConfedSS brings up every few months or years. I agree with muy_thaiguy on this point.
Here is our discussion from 2021:

Love it. ConfSS has ignored my response from early April until now, so for about six months. And now he wants to recycle ideas that I have already debunked as an over-simplified parallel; further, history does not repeat in that way. I have heard about this comparison for at least 30 years.
Let me use one of ConFedSS' favorite techniques, however, it has complete sentences.
Democracy and Republic are NOT MUTUALLY exclusive. Before I read from the source that muythai gave, I would say that the USA is NOT a PURE Democracy. His cited article calls the Greek (Athenian) Form of Government a “direct democracy.” And YES, I like the term “representative democracy.”
Here is the important part of the article, for me, anyway:
Is the United States a democracy?
Yes, the United States is a democracy, since we, the people, hold the ultimate political power. We’re not a “direct democracy,” but we are a “representative democracy.”
This is where our history education might add some confusion. We are commonly taught that democracy is a product of ancient Greece. It’s their word – demokratia – after all. The city-state of Athens is credited with implementing a system of government of and by the people, whereby eligible citizens would congregate to make decisions. They’d make these decisions themselves (or “directly”), not through any elected representatives.
btw: I re-read most of this thread linked above. Some things do not change. Some learn, and some do not.
The USA modeled after Ancient ROME...
Thanks for sharing the article, muy_thaiguy. It is a good one on the US Government, and a good lesson for ALL of us.
