Pope Francis dies at age 88

Pope Francis, a reformer from Argentina who rattled the Catholic Church’s traditionalists and inspired progressives by reaching out to gay people and championing the rights of immigrants and the poor, has died, the Vatican announced. (...)

His successor will be chosen during a conclave, a gathering of cardinals who are charged with electing a new pope in strict seclusion at the Vatican.

Toward the end of his life, Francis battled a host of health issues that left him weakened and often forced to rely on a wheelchair or canes. Most recently, he struggled with diverticulitis, pneumonia and bronchitis, and at times needed his aides to read his speeches because he was out of breath.(...)

The son of Italian emigrants to Argentina, Francis was born Jorge Mario Bergoglio in Buenos Aires on Dec. 17, 1936.

As a young man, Bergoglio worked as a bouncer and a janitor, and trained as a chemist and a food technician before being ordained a Jesuit priest in 1969.

He rose through the ranks in Argentina and in 1998 was appointed head of the archdiocese. In 2001, Pope John Paul II named him to the Sacred College of Cardinals, which elects new popes.

President Trump took the rare step of making a balcony address decreeing all flags lowered to half staff. As a touching tribute to Catholics worldwide, Trump invited one of Catholicism's holiest symbols - the Easter Bunny - to join him on the Truman Balcony. He also autographed a copy of the Trump Bible to send to the Pope's widow. Trump is teaching the radical left the meaning of compassion.

----------The Apostle Peter...Is considered The 1st Pope....
----------- No other Pope has been named Peter II...
----------- An Irish Priest named Malicai(Not spelled correctly ;) ) had a dream...In The 12th or 13th Century A.D...It's one of those...
----------- In his dream, he saw a list of Pope names...I don't know if this is what the Vatican uses.......Or it just Fact....In his dream, he saw the future Popes....So far it holds true.....For like Nostradamus....The Irish Priest....For saw.....The LAST POPE....In other words the end of the world....Will Be Given The Name PETER II(The Second)....I don't know if The Vatican goes by his names....Before him, since his dream...Stay away from naming a Peter 2....
------------ Or like The Lady of Fatima....Who told the end of times, to the 3 children..
------------ So cross your fingers everyone.....Pray for a Pope named anything but Peter...For The Roman Catholic Church...

The Pope's ring is destroyed.

With a history dating back to at least the 13th century, the Fisherman’s Ring is among the most recognizable items of papal regalia. Named after St. Peter, who was a fisherman and, according to the Catholic tradition, the first pope, it was worn by Pope Francis to ceremonial events throughout his 12-year reign. Countless devoted followers kissed it. It even sparked a controversy over hygiene.

Now, as tradition dictates, the late pontiff’s signet ring will be destroyed — or defaced, at least — within the walls of the Vatican following his death, aged 88, on Easter Monday.

It is a ritual with practical roots. The Fisherman’s Ring and a pendant called the bulla traditionally served as official seals for official letters and documents known as papal briefs. New ones were issued to each incoming pope, and to prevent letters or decrees being forged posthumously, both would be smashed with a hammer upon his death.

ALL my posts of cartoons, such as my previous one, are normal images (Img) and NOT big (BigImg). Yes, I know the difference.

(It is possible that I made THAT mistake, but when I see a huge political cartoon that I post, I check to be sure that I did NOT mistakenly choose that option. I do not recall choosing to use "BigImg" for any cartoon or any diagram. I posted LOTS of images in the Former Astronomy thread and I do not recall ever posting a "BigImg" in that thread.)

This is a point that ConfedSS brings up every few months or years. I agree with muy_thaiguy on this point.

Here is our discussion from 2021:

Love it. ConfSS has ignored my response from early April until now, so for about six months. And now he wants to recycle ideas that I have already debunked as an over-simplified parallel; further, history does not repeat in that way. I have heard about this comparison for at least 30 years.

Let me use one of ConFedSS' favorite techniques, however, it has complete sentences.

Democracy and Republic are NOT MUTUALLY exclusive. Before I read from the source that muythai gave, I would say that the USA is NOT a PURE Democracy. His cited article calls the Greek (Athenian) Form of Government a “direct democracy.” And YES, I like the term “representative democracy.”

Here is the important part of the article, for me, anyway:

Is the United States a democracy?
Yes, the United States is a democracy, since we, the people, hold the ultimate political power. We’re not a “direct democracy,” but we are a “representative democracy.”

This is where our history education might add some confusion. We are commonly taught that democracy is a product of ancient Greece. It’s their word – demokratia – after all. The city-state of Athens is credited with implementing a system of government of and by the people, whereby eligible citizens would congregate to make decisions. They’d make these decisions themselves (or “directly”), not through any elected representatives.

btw: I re-read most of this thread linked above. Some things do not change. Some learn, and some do not.
The USA modeled after Ancient ROME...

Thanks for sharing the article, muy_thaiguy. It is a good one on the US Government, and a good lesson for ALL of us.

I understand that religion gives people solice and faith but it really is quite easily unravelled. Let's have a little look at some facts-

The bible was written by the Kabal. It's a damn good set of guidelines to help grow a strong community. The Kabal included some special rules for the goyim ( Christians) regarding usury. It being a mortal sin for the goyim to make money from lending money but the Kabal and it's people were allowed. So, they wanted the goyim to build strong communities who wanted progress and better lives. Sometimes the goyim would need more money, let's say for extra horses and machinery to expand. The Kabal and it's people would then get rich off the goyim's toil.

After a while the goyim grew stronger creating countries with a sense of national pride. Some of them even had enough sense to see that the Kabal were growing rich from their work.

This had to come to a stop. The Kabal and it's people invented Marxism and communism leading to socialism. Preying on the weaker members of goyim society.

The Kabal then decided that the goyim countries and society must be destroyed. Through socialism they gradually eroded the moral fibre of the bible. And Christianity followed, homosexuality having been a sin when the Kabal needed the community to grow was all of a sudden seen as normal and acceptable by the Christian church. Even going so far as having homosexual priests or vicars.

I'll finish this later.
