What a day...

This day has been amazing sports wise. Alonso wins the european grand prix in F1. after the first couple of laps it was pissing down and 7 cars slided of at the same corner. the track was like a river at that corner.

then the tour de france. what a stage with alberto contador winning it in style. it was just him and rasmussen at the end of a gruelling stage.

it was on for a spanish hat-trick with Sergio Garcia needing a par 4 at the last to win the Open, but he could not pull it off and it was a 4 hole play-off with Padraig Harrington, which the Irishman won by 1 shot. thrilling stuff all day long. Anders Romero from Agentina had a 2 shot lead on the 17th, but went out of bounds and dropped 2 shots and then dropped another shot at the 18th to finish 3rd overall. a european winner at long last in a major(even though it was a paddy).

I don't think Rasmussen will be too sad about his loss though, he served all the other serious competitors by at leat a minute. Vino lost more than 9 minutes, as did Menchov (although he is also rabo) and Moreau!

When garcia was 9 under, and the nearest to him was at 4 under this morning, I thought it was an easy win for him. Great golf, thats what the british open is all about!
