Oxfordshire County Council yesterday approved plans to lock residents into one of six zones to ‘save the planet’ from global warming. The latest stage in the ’15 minute city’ agenda is to place electronic gates on key roads in and out of the city, confining residents to their own neighbourhoods.

Under the new scheme if residents want to leave their zone they will need permission from the Council who gets to decide who is worthy of freedom and who isn’t. Under the new scheme residents will be allowed to leave their zone a maximum of 100 days per year, but in order to even gain this every resident will have to register their car details with the council who will then track their movements via smart cameras round the city.

PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. — An Odessa man has been arrested after he assaulted a police horse without provocation.

According to the arrest report, two mounted St. Petersburg officers were on duty around two in the morning on Saturday. Their horses were wearing their appropriate police insignia.

The officers claim that Alisha Lalani, 27, walked up to one of the horses and delivered an open handed slap to the rear of the animal.

Lalani claimed that he was unaware that he wasn’t allowed to strike a police horse.

He was promptly arrested and faces a charge of battery on a police horse.

Absolutely. I found the same information from 3 other sources that are much more mainstream. I make it a point to double-check information and make sure it's verifiable before spreading it.

This doesn't seem to me to be any kind of lockdown. It's just to reduce the amount of driving. People are completely free to go where they will by walking, biking, or using public transit.

Swimming, boating, and hot-air ballooning also seem to be permissible.

Well, arguing with ralf is a bit of a tar baby. Also, I didn't bother responding yet because he didn't bother to cite anything backing up his claim that it's only 7am-7pm, and I've been trying to find any article about this to actually support that. I agree that it seems to be a limit on private transportation, but all the sources I've read seem to say that your household, collectively, may drive your cars outside of a relatively small neighborhood a maximum of 100 days (or possibly trips? It's unclear) per year.

All other vehicles including buses, coaches, taxis, vans, mopeds, motorbikes and HGVs will be allowed at all times. Residents in Oxford and some areas just outside the city will be able to apply for a permit allowing them to drive through the traffic filters for up to 100 days per year.

The traffic filters will operate seven days a week from 7am to 7pm, apart from the traffic filters on Marston Ferry Road and Hollow Way, which will not operate on Sundays. This is because traffic levels in these parts of the city are significantly lower on Sundays than at other times of the week.
