Trying to hold back the vast resources of the Soviet Union....Hitler made another blunder, like always....He removed Von Manstein from the war...Zhukov Never lost another battle in WW2...
------------------ Zhukov would speak on Von Manstein behalf at the Nuremberg trails...Along with Allied leaders Eisenhower and Churchill....Zhukov would meet Von Manstein again in a Cold War... Zhukov would head The Warsaw Pact...The West , NATO would get Von Manstein out of prison (2 years out of 10 years) to lead NATO's defense forces...... Also..
- Churchill was an inspiring leader but he did not single handedly “save” Britain as your statement implies.
- de Gaulle fled France and was simply a figurehead around which the Allies used to help their anti-german cause.

But he saved all of Europe; without the Soviet Union (and, specifically, Russia) there would be no Allied victory.
