And even if Amish population growth continued at current trends, it would still take them over 200 years more to make up 100% of American population, barring some non-Amish population collapse.

The main point, that I do not agree with entirely, is for farmers to use little or no synthetic fertilizers. Did humans STARVE before artificial or synthetic fertilizers were invented? NO. The point, I think, is for the earth to be more sustainable, without these "chemical" and synthetic fertilizers. One main impact is less food, and then the main argument by Thomas Malthus, the "father" of the "Dismal Science" will be more likely achieved. Another impact is to utilize "natural fertilizers" but the issue of bad odors is then a consequence, among other problems. Please see below.
This is ConfedSS's (enough s-es there to trip over) fallacy in his thinking and his presentation: He takes a small snippet in the News and weaves a totally unlikely scenario. Hmmm, reminds me of someone else. He does not back up his narrative with facts, logic, or sources. Since he did not, neither will I support my summation here with any sources. Several find such information and affirmation too much to read and/or comprehend, anywayzzzzz.
--------------- Like in Holland/Netherlands ....The Biden Administration is going after the Amish farmers...Unlike the Dutch farmers.....The Amish don't use gasoline or chemical fertilizer.....Their food is healthy, fresh....But the main thing is ..The Amish don't go by , follow the Biden agenda....They can't control the Amish, that scares the radical LEFT, so they are shutting down Amish farms....As if they were Al Capone run speakeasies during prohibition....
I think I read where Mookie suggested ONLY ONE Amish farmer ran afoul of federal rules and regulations on selling or giving away large quantities of beef/meat that may cause illness. THAT IS NOT the conspiracy that the Federal Government (under Biden) is trying to shut down Amish farms. Again, TOO MUCH HYPERBOLE and it sounds SHRILL.
It is true that the Amish do not use modern technology, such as internal combustion engines. I think they allow use of phone for emergencies. BUT their communities are not the end-all, be-all, and the only way. At some age, late teens, I suppose, they give their young people a chance to decide: the Amish way or go live in the "larger" and non-Amish society. Their communities are capped at a certain number, so their model is not sustainable, UNLESS the rest of us are "gone." I understand too, that sometimes they break off and form new communities, but good arable land for their farming methods is not infinite and is actually very limited.
So, while ConfedSS seems to endorse the Amish way, it will not work for the entire country or the entire world. It will not work for the entire state of Pennsylvania either, where most live. I think that Virginia has a few such communities. I am sure we have Mennonites, but I do not know that much about them. They seem like the Amish and dress in a similar manner. I have seen them at tourist sites, such as Luray Caverns, in Virginia.
And I read that during the years of low rain, i.e., drought, that run off from Amish fields produced lots of negative environment impacts in the Chesapeake Bay. Too much manure made its way into nearby rivers and ultimately in the Chesapeake Bay, so their attempt to basically be "better" for the earth had the opposite effect during that time of drought.
The rest below is not worthy of a my comment, except to say that ConfedSS seems to be spinning a conspiracy theory that to me is quite nonsensical, illogical, and farfetched. And who are these Global Elites? Name them.
-------------- If you don't summit to your Global Elite rulers....They will come for you.... Amish, regular Americans who pay taxes... Churches, so on and so on....The main thing, is The Global Elites , want the masses , kept starving... Dependant on the Government hand outs...
-------------- If you want to make it...You have to move to South America...Walk back across the U.S./Mexican Border...Get all the free Bs......ConfederateSS.out!(The Blue and Silver Rebellion)...

33. Hygiene and environmental issues
The Amish have built a very sustainable lifestyle. However, scientists have observed that some of the waste produced by their efforts to grow their own crops and farm their own animals are causing environmental issues. For one, it seems their waste products end up in local rivers and streams.
Complaints about the Amish impact on the natural world have escalated to the point that the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) has even stepped in. The agency has reportedly asked the Amish to change some of the ways they do things, but such requests have been mostly ignored.
24. Their numbers are growing
Contrary to popular belief, the Amish community is not small, isolated, or secluded. Their population can be traced back to the 1600s. Though they were originally present in Sweden, they have traveled across the globe, with most of them currently residing in the United States.
Despite being a traditional and conservative community, their population is continually growing. Currently, there are an estimated 400,000 Amish people residing in America, and their numbers are increasing by the year.
25. Health issues among the Amish
Though the Amish are healthy and have a relatively low risk of cancer compared to most of the world’s population, they are still not immune to health issues. Despite their good lifestyle and natural way of living, their population experiences health risks specific to their group.
The current population of the Amish can be traced to the original 100 people that belonged to their community. Essentially, their members have merged with each other. The result is the Founder Effect, which leads to genetic disorders. However, since the Amish do not regularly visit doctors, their problems are mostly undiagnosed.

Its less about 'no technology' and more about 'will this new technology hurt the Amish way of life?'. There are also shades of grey, some are really conservative and shun almost all tech, other will use computers but 'no internet, no music, no video' just word and excel for business use. The Amish don't automatically embrace what's new, they evaluate it and decide if it's a good fit for the lives they want to lead.
