Population South Korea: 52 million | Population DPRK: 26 million
GDP, South Korea: $31,489 | GDP, DPRK: $1,300

In what world is it possible for the DPRK to pose any kind of threat to South Korea?

FACT:The Korean War started when South Korea staged a commando attack against Haeju in June 1950 and the DPRK was forced to retaliate.

FACT: Syngman Rhee refused to sign the armistice in 1953, demanding the U.S. Army conquer North Korea and place it under his control. When the United Nations continued peace talks, he released more than 25,000 non-repatriate DPRK POWs with U.S. assistance for the specific reason of trying to sabotage the peace talks.

FACT: In the 1970s, Kim Il Sung offered to draw down the Korean People's Army to 350,000 if South Korea drew down to a similar level and agreed to remove U.S. forces from its territory. South Korea, under U.S. pressure, refused to even discuss the proposal.

The United States of the 20th/21st centuries is a nation built on global terror and belligerent warmongering curated by the so-called "Atlanticist" Democrat and Republican parties which say they're trying to protect democracy but are really trying to expand access to new markets for their big business allies.

Every year a huge number of people manage to escape the hellish tyranny of capitalist South Korea and are embraced with open arms by the benevolent and glorious Dear Leader in the utopia which is DPRK; whereupon they are free to start a new, plentiful life away from the prying eyes of the state.

The figures in your post are skewed because the accountants measure the GDP before those people leave but count the population (which is rocketing) after. Just look at the figures next quarter and you'll find the difference to be explosive.

Average South Koreans don't defect partly because they've been brainwashed by the big business media and, moreover, because the reality is life in the DPRK is less prosperous and a lot tougher than in the South. There's no denying that. That doesn't make the South good guys.

However, South Koreans in leadership who realize the disgusting reality of the Seoul government and its U.S. puppetmasters and who have flashes of conscience do defect.

South Korea's Foreign Minister Choe Deok-sin defected with his wife in 1986. And then, just two years ago, Choe's son Choe In-guk also defected. These never get widely reported.

Fun fact: the word "defect" is actually a portmanteau of the words "dear leader" and "perfect", which itself is a portmanteau of the words "permanent" and "confectionery". When the people of Seoul learned of the north's literally endless supply of Kim(TM) brand chocolates ("the greatest Un-der the Sun"), they were honour bound to follow in Choe Deok-sin's almighty footsteps.

East is Least, West is Best.

But if they heard about S'mores, they'd all head for the U.S.

(actually I think s'mores are disgusting. Also perverted, since graham crackers were invented to be a 'healthy' snack).

The US: *runs enormous live-fire simulation of an invasion of North Korea*

North Korea: *gets angry and fire some missiles into the sea*

The US: look how crazy North Korea is! Punish North Korea!

The US is like the bully winding up an unpopular kid in class hoping he'll snap so the bully can claim self-defence when he beats him up.

YUP.

The U.S. absolutely has a meltdown when a bunch of Iranian peasants use a Zippo lighter on a U.S. flag and screams that they're insane religious fanatics.

Meanwhile, under Obama, the American War Machine literally erected a gigantic North Korean flag within a few miles of that country's border and spent $3 million in fuel and ammunition sending F-35s to strafe it. There was absolutely no military utility to it, they did it just because. This is a thug government. There's nothing special about it, just thugs girding to see the spectacle of blood.
