----------------Oxford, Michigan...Oxford High School...A student fired 20 shots in 5 min. ...So far 3 killed (students), and 6 injured (one teacher)...One kid texted his dad shots fired , I'm jumping out a window...Other kids ran out a back door...To a sub-division of houses behind the school...As kids were fleeing, one girl reported a kid was hit, bleeding from his head and arm...It happened around 12:46pm-12:51pm as classes were going from lunch back to class... Shooting happened by the girl's History class...The school then locked down...The shooter was knocking on doors... Sheriff Deputy!...Suspect was a 15 year old sophomore and gave up with out a fight with police , and has Lawyered up...
-------------A week before Nov.11th...The school was vandalized ,spray paint and a Deer Head was left at the school, a E-mail went out on Nov.11th...Saying of the vandalism but as of now everything is O.K...The police were not aware of this and don't know if this is part of what happened...

-----------Well all the shootings I have watched be reporting...A 1st...The Governor is at the press conference... Suspect is being held in Pontiac.... Parents didn't allow police to question suspect...Are not cooperating with police... Suspect was attending classes before shooting...Police arrived at the school within 5min. of shooting...There are cameras all over the school...Updated from earlier report....The Deer Head stuff have nothing to do with shooting , that was another kid and was handled...
---------Suspect is a boy , 15 year old sophomore...weapon, a semi-auto hand gun, he had 7 clips,reloaded once...11 shot...3 dead ...1 boy and 2 girls...8 wounded , 7 students and 1 teacher...6 are doing well...2 are in critical condition....2 helicopters left to hospitals , those are probably those 2...Wounded were taken to 6 hospitals in near by cities....Next update at 10pm...... O:)

--------------Name of suspect can't be given until 72 hours , until he is charged, because he is a minor...They are not releasing names of victims....There are 4 students in critical condition not 2...The teacher was 47 years old and he suffered a gun shot to the upper shoulder , was treated and released...
---------------The suspect's house has been searched...Phone, computer etc. has been taken...,along with 7 long rifles...As police go through them...But the parents of suspect are not talking to police , and they have not given police permission to talk to the kid , and have gotten him a lawyer...

School violence and mass killings have become part of life in the USA. We now PRACTICE for such events in schools. The fact that the School went into a lockdown and active shooter mode likely saved lives.

I had heard media reports that the shooter, a fifteen year old student at that school, has "lawyered up" so details about his motive will be slow in coming.

One of our former Principals at my public school monitored social media for reports about possible upcoming violence. That in itself can become a full-time job, when he (and other Administrators) have too much else to do to keep a school moving forward. I think that worry and stress impacted him greatly and he was the Principal for only some three years.

I make an effort that we pray often in my classes where I now teach. I will be sure to pray today. That can help, but, sadly, these problems and this evil will require more than JUST prayers to defeat. Too many students are under too much stress in their lives.

My son was directly impacted by the violence and the massacre at Virginia Tech in April, 2007. My family has been impacted by this kind of senseless violence that has now become much too common in the USA.

My high school class recently has a reunion event. We reflected on our experiences growing up in America at that time in high school and I commented how great it was to grow up THEN. Sure, we had problems and issues, but we were able to move forward, solve some of those problems, and be engaged in the world and in our studies and in our social and extra-curricular activities. It was a good time to grow up in America.

Will those growing up in the USA today feel the same about their high school years?

3 dead, 8 injured in Oxford High School shooting; suspect is 15-year-old student

A chaotic scene
Oxford High School students who were interviewed by reporters described a chaotic and confused scene in which a voice came on over the intercom to announce an active shooter.

At first, they said, they didn't know whether it was a drill.

But, when they realized it wasn't, they were struck by fear and panic.

Surveillance footage, Bouchard would later say, showed the suspect come out of a bathroom with the handgun.

Students said teachers locked and barricaded doors, covered windows — and some students hid. Those with cellphones quietly texted to alert their parents and friends what was happening. Students were in tears.

Some students said they could hear loud bangs.

By early afternoon, the Sheriff's Office said it had taken the suspect — and the handgun — into custody. Officials said they were shocked and devastated and asked for prayers.

The suspect, police said, asked for an attorney.

Some parents later said, even before the shooting, rumors had been circulating that a school shooting was going to happen, and some students even said that they had decided not to attend.

-------------A day before the shooting , a teacher saw and reported him scrolling ammo to buy on his phone...In another class the morning of the shooting...A teacher took a picture of a note , full of bullets , people dying...The world dies and other horrible stuff drwan and written...It gets better...Since Covid, kids can't use their lockers...The school calls his parents to the school about the note...They call him out of class to where they where meeting...School Officials talk to them about counciling etc...The parents go home...The school lets him go back to class...AT NO TIME , did anyone say or think to check his back pack...Since kids can't use their lockers....He had the gun ...when the office meeting was going on...
---------------The country DA...is prosecuting the parents...Because , at 1:22 , the mom text don't do it...1:38 the dad called police , saying I think the shooter is my son...The day before...The school called the mom about him looking at ammo...The mom text him...next time don't get caught, laughing..

To be fair, most of the facts that ConfSS has cited are confirmed by reports I have heard in the media.

The 15 year old school shooter and killer, and his parents:

1) was aided by his parents; they bought the gun for him for a present, maybe an early Christmas present;

2) parents ignored the warning signs; the most egregious is that when presented those warnings in a meeting at the SCHOOL, they refused to accept the possibility that their son may shoot anyone. They did (OR MAY) not EVEN want his backpack to be searched. Mother warned him not to get CAUGHT...! in a text message. (WARNING: some of my "facts" in #2 may not be exact, but the overall message is valid. Read the facts in the link I provide.)

3) Parents tried to avoid being charged by authorities and tried to HIDE after the shooting by going to an art museum or warehouse of some sort.

4) Based on all I have heard, both parents bear major culpability (responsibility) and have a HUGE ROLE in NOT preventing this tragedy. Talk about MYOPIC individuals, these parents totally ignored all warning signs that their SON was a likely or even possible KILLER.

5) Once an event occurs, anyone "can connect ALL the dots." Predicting a killer or event before the event occurs is MUCH more difficult. My Dad always said: "Hindsight is 20/20." That is SO TRUE here.

Separating facts from opinions is usually difficult when reading a post by ConfSS; same here in this thread.

ConfSS tends to write in large font; he also uses bad grammar and terrible punctuation. That makes his posts difficult to comprehend.

I read bad writing by my students in Science classes for many years, so I can compensate for their gaps and errors. I do NOT teach English and communication skills as my primary subjects, but I correct and point out their errors all the time. English teachers tell me that student writing has gotten WORSE since they started to text informally on cell phones with their friends so often.

If we do hold others to a standard of basic communication, then communication becomes more difficult. Perhaps these complaints will make ConfSS more accountable for his egregious errors. I have already tried to point out his errors and encouraged him to at least PROOFREAD before he posts. I have not seen any change in his posts based on my admonitions.

Yeah, it's pretty sick stuff.

I guess (in this particular case) I don't really relate to those blaming the school. The way this played out it seems like they were taking incremental steps and the next step was going to be police involvement. No they didn't search his bag, and that was clearly a regretable decision but i mean are teachers supposed to treat all children like prisoners and assume they are there to kill other? The parents clearly had some idea of his intentions and still went ahead with arming with with weapons and ammunition and encourage him to hide it from the school. If the actual facts end up matching what we are hearing now at the very least the mom holds some culpability in the deaths. I imagine a Jury would be foaming at the mouth to convict her of something.

The parents are criminally responsible IMHO. They’d just purchased his “new beauty” a few days earlier. They should’ve considered the possibility that he was armed at school. The fact that the dad (has admitted) he immediately drove home to look for the gun when he heard of the shooting… that implies he had suspicions.

School Admin is not criminally responsible; but from the reports it sounds like they wanted to send the kid home… and caved in when the parents objected to this idea. If they wanted to send him home, they clearly felt his behavior warranted that action. Them caving to the parents is a error in judgment putting the feelings of one kid over the safety of many. I think this is negligent and should result in terminations or demotions.

Contacts the school guidance officer...The guidance officer comes and gets the kid...No one notifys the cop on campus or the principal...
-------3) 3rd The guidance officer calls his parents , while they wait for an hour and a half in the room , after what took place the day before and the drawing on this day...No, high official contacted, principal or police...
-------4) 4th The parents come , both leave work...Still no one thinks to ask the parents to look in the backpack...They guidance officer asks the parents to take their son home...Asks, not TELLS ...The parents say no...leave him here , we have to get back to work...Keep in mind ,the family of these 3 idiots live right down the street from the school...The parents refuse to take the kid...The school guidance officer should have then contacted the principal or school cop...Still nothing , the guidance officer does not press it... Parents leave...Kid goes back to class with gun in backpack, they don't use lockers...I mean really , school should have forced him to leave...They could have dropped him off at home, on there way back to work , they live down the street...He is 15 not 5 and on top of that , if someone breaks in , he has a gun to exercise his 2nd amendment right...Oh, my little 15 year old baby will be all alone at home...Spare us please!...That is the society the LEFT LIBERALS have brought us to...A bunch of pansies...It is time for the woodshed days...Forget that spare the rod crap...Raise real people for a change...

My way is the way of truth and light. Everyone who lives in the light lives in truth. There are those who seek the truth and therefore live in the light. Those who seek darkness do not seek truth. Evil isn't always seen but in the light of truth evil is revealed.

Seems to me the evidence points in exactly the opposite direction.

There was no overt political allegiance, but these people personify conservative beliefs. They knew their son was likely to harm someone, but they cared about his rights more than what might happen to others.

Liberals generally think about their own actions in view of how they will impact others.

Putting your own rights ahead of others is pretty much the conservative ideal.
