I got to borrow the cd set of the old 1948 radio broadcast Superman: Last Son of Krypton. Real old school radio. I kept expecting to hear the word Ovaltine. The writing is good. Characters enjoyable. The messaging is amazing! The ‘commercials’ (written for young kids) teaches the evils or racism and discrimination. Many of the creators of the superheroes we know today were Jewish but the messaging fits perfectly into the 1960’s Civil Rights movement as well as the post WW2 era.

This is enjoyable, quality, and a very interesting look back at nostalgic programming with a positive message.

Refreshing!

Nearly all the great superheroes were created by Jews: Jerry Siegel and Joe (Joseph) Shuster created Superman, Joe Simon and Jack Kirby (Jacob Kurtzberg) created Captain America, Bob Kane (Robert Kahn) and Bill Finger invented Batman, while Kirby, together with Stan Lee (Stanley Martin Lieber) produced a particularly impressive line of heroes such as Spider-Man, The Hulk, the Fantastic Four, Ironman, the X-men, Thor and the Avengers.

I have a volume of the Batman 'Dailies' from the mid-1940's. Three panels a day, indicated in many newspapers. In three panels, they had to (a) give an idea of what's already happened to any readers who've just joined;(b) tell enough story to keep the readers' attention; and (c) leave the story at a point where the readers want to see the next installment. Incredible storytelling under massive constraints.
