Actually the currently acceptable term is CE.
AD is out.
See.. we all want to pretend our Calendar isn’t based on Jesus’ supposed birthday, so we don;t offend non-Christians. So changing the letters after changes everything.

Pluto not being counted as a planet is because science and cosmology. I don't think it's fair for republicans to say that science and scientists are all democrats. You can absolutely praise science and be a republican. Otherwise your take on this would be quite ironic, don't you think?
