Without Monty Python, you can't possibly work out complex ethical problems.

http://montypython.50webs.com/scripts/Life_of_Brian/20.htm

BRIAN: No. No, please! Please! Please listen. I've got one or two things to say.

FOLLOWERS: Tell us. Tell us both of them.

BRIAN: Look. You've got it all wrong. You don't need to follow me. You don't need to follow anybody! You've got to think for yourselves. You're all individuals!

FOLLOWERS: Yes, we're all individuals!

BRIAN: You're all different!

FOLLOWERS: Yes, we are all different!

DENNIS: I'm not.

This might help you to understand (though I doubt it.)

+1

... I’d like to add an amendment to this.
“Free Speech” doesn’t mean people have to buy your products, or stores have to carry your products. It does prevent the Government from banning you products based solely on your speech.

I don't know if the french concept of freedom is the same as the american one, although they were both invented at the same time by the same kind of people... but basically, in france... your freedom of speech stops where you cause prejudice to others. Like you can't promote serious public disorder and mayhem, you can't accuse anybody of any made up stuff and many more things that are common sense.
Many times, when I hear american talk about free speach... it feels like they think they are entitled to say whatever they want. I don't know, in france you could arrest a nasty suicidal religious community... in the US sometimes it feels like if it's under the relgious banner and it's jesus related anything is ok as long as it's not muslim.

I don’t think you’re far off the mark.

Common sense is often thrown out the window.
It’s apparently ok for politicians to outright lie about facts no then later claim ‘I was just asking a question’ or ‘I was just making a point’.

You can’t lie to sell a product... like it’s actually against the law to lie about the efficacy of a product and you can get sued.
(Though you can dance around the truth and outright lie is not protected by free speech.)

But it appears OK to lie to sell a person (politician) or political agenda.

This sounds like the current definition of the Republican party.

I send people to Hell all the time, but they never take my advice.

You have to pave their way with good intentions.
