Smug, self-satisfied and obviously arrogant Trump supporter Ellen DeGeneres has been blasted by US media aka judicial system for its racist, toxic, bullying and mean culture:

Several staff will be replaced on Ellen DeGeneres' daytime chat show after an investigation uncovered "deficiencies" in "the show's day-to-day management".

The accusers claimed the workplace was toxic and "dominated by fear".

Several current and former staff members told Buzzfeed they had been fired after taking medical leave or bereavement days to attend family funerals. Others said they were also instructed not to speak to DeGeneres if they saw her around the office.

One employee said she experienced racist comments, actions, and "microaggressions" during her 18 months on the show, and was reprimanded for raising concerns about her treatment.

"That 'be kind' [stuff] only happens when the cameras are on. It's all for show," one former employee told Buzzfeed. "I know they give money to people and help them out, but it's for show."

According to Buzzfeed News, a former employee of the daytime show accused [executive producer] Leman of soliciting oral sex at a company party in 2013, while another ex-staffer claimed to have seen the exec grab a production assistant's penis on a different occasion.

Another staff member claimed they saw Leman grope a production assistant and kiss his neck in a car.

Can someone please explain what a ‘micro aggression’ is, and why it’s bad?

It's when Ant-Man socks you in the jaw. It's bad because, although he is tiny, he's still using his normal-size weight.

Microaggressions can be really subtle.

An example is if I ask how your wife is. I am assuming that you have a wife. This is bad because if you are gay and married to a man I may have forced my heterosexual ideas on you.

This YouTube was funny enough to post, at risk of people assuming I am an O'rielly fan.



I like watching him and sometimes get a laugh, maybe I am a fan?

I hate people who are offended by ‘microaggressions’... does that make me a bad person.

The guys making that FOX video are being deliberately obtuse to pander to their boomer viewers. The only people who have a problem with someone saying 'I like your shoes' are the imaginary people living in Bill O'Reilly's head. Op ed journalists are the absolute world champions of arguing with strawmen.

'Microagression' is a really shrill term but it is describing a genuine thing. Like 2d says, asking a gay person how their wife is, asking someone who isn't white 'where are you from... no where are you really from?', trying to bond with your black colleague by talking about reggae and fried chicken, etc. Comments that make people feel like they don't 'fit in' and/or are being defined by others around them primarily based on their ethnicity/sex/whatever. The person making those comments is not being in any way aggressive and so 'microagression' is a pretty stupid term, but the comments do matter.

Imagine you go and live in Japan. The first person you meet asks where you're from, you say the US, and they reply 'oh you must like hamburgers' or 'are you a cowboy?'. The first couple of times you might think that's fairly funny that they assumed that. After that's happened to you 40-50 times it's probably starting to grate a bit. After 100-200 comments like that you're slightly relieved when people don't start a conversation by asking where you're from. When those weird little comments are the constant background noise in your day-to-day life they can start to get pretty tiring, even if each individual comment by itself is no big deal.

True story ... my middle school chemistry teacher went to France and two Frenchmen asked him where he was from and he said the USA and they asked him where in the USA and he said Montana. They didn't know where that was so they asked him to point to it on the world map in this travel guide he had with him (this was before smartphones). One of them immediately said "have you ever been attacked by Indians?"

I've never dressed in western wear overseas but I've often thought about it. But I rarely wear western wear even in the actual western US so I think it would be a cry for attention.

I have very rarely dressed in full western wear, even when attending the Stampede. I have owned a few pairs of cowboy boots. Once as an adult. Always found the pointy toes uncomfortable.

When wearing trousers, I wear jeans almost all the time. I have a hat and a few shirts. Last time I wore them together I had the wrong footwear. Probably vans slip-ons.

I love hamburgers and fried chicken. Fried chicken in a hamburger bun? Also delicious!

To be fair, I never wear full western wear if I'm at a rodeo either. I feel that's more a novice thing to do, whereas if you dress in modern clothing you seem less like a tourist.

I never did it but, dressing up for Stampede in cowboy outfits has been rampant well before we were born. People that wore business suits downtown would switch during Stampede week.

The best is always seeing people in brand new outfits. Yeah, you look like you're ready to go roping.

i made a $100 bet w/a buddy that i could put in an 8 hr. shift down @ stampede one year wearing a stormtrooper helmet - i lost that bet.

oh god yes, didn't even make it half way... - i was already drunk by 10 AM when i made the bet & we had tickets for the Chucks, which started around 2, i think? got to the grounds around 11-12 - think i lasted about 20 minutes sitting in the stands under direct sunlight. it was a terrible idea.
