Well, hey, Detroit can now say, "At least we aren't Minneapolis!"

Hahahaha, i feel like once the protests are done Minne could make it a few months without police before the bottom falls out.

One week of police free detroit and the whole place would be burned to the ground.

It does feel like as a society we are making large steps towards trying to make the Purge movies into reality!

That's from the Daily Fail. The actual decision is a little more complex than the headline.

Regardless... it’s not practical and not smart.

If I were a citizen of Minneapolis I’d look to move (if possible) or I’d go get my gun license.
If I were a major corporation looking to setup a facility and Minneapolis was on my short list... it would just fall off.

The LAPD unit whose sole responsibility is to police school children has announced that it has heard the public mood will therefore be letting go of the three grenade launchers it currently owns (but it will be keeping its mine-proof tactical assault vehicle for chasing truants through the LA projects):

That's not the LAPD, that's the LAUSDPD. The LA school district has its own police department with 400 officers responsible for 700,000 students and teachers and separate from LAPD and LASO.

The North Hollywood Bank Shootout occurred a few blocks from North Hollywood High School. Had Armenian gunmen with body armor and Bushmasters stormed the school and taken hostages, a 60 year old security guard with a can of mace and driving a golf cart is probably not going to be the best person to respond. The first time a gunman offs a bunch of students because the police don't have the equipment to respond effectively the liberal parents start screaming "it's the police department's job to prepare for any eventuality --- why weren't you prepared?!?!"

Imagine living in a country where the only way for a child to be safe at school is to park a tactical assault vehicle full of grenade launcher-wielding paramilitaries at the front door. Is that even a nation state? Sounds more like the Wild West, or Mad Max.

First of all, the term Wild West refers to a period in the history of the United States west of the Rocky Mountains, of which California is part.

Second, the LAUSD has 1,000 schools and the article said the LASPD has one armored vehicle, so your vision of assault vehicles parked at the front door of every school is FALSE, unless they split it up among all the schools, like maybe they placed a tire outside North Hollywood High and the steering wheel outside John Kennedy High School and the carburetor outside San Pedro High School, and so forth.

IOW you think American schools are dangerously under-guarded because they are not all currently patrolled by grenade launcher-toting mercenaries.

You think there are too many cops which reminds you of a place with no cops?
