Three things today

Most publicly, and least importantly, the Queen is 94 today.
Secondly, it would have been my father-in-law's 94th too. Back when he was 80, he was invited (along with others who were born on the same day as the Queen and still surviving) to a garden party at Buckingham Palace.
JIm has been dead several years now, though in truth we lost him somewhat earlier to the fog that is Alzheimer's. In the end, he didn't recognise his own family.
Finally, and most personally, it's my 30th wedding anniversary today. A somewhat subdued celebration due to the current circumstances, but my son and granddaughter (not to mention the other member of that small family) are still in quarantine with us. They have a new apartment now, and should be able to move in at the end of the month.
The curlson made (an attempt at) croissants for an anniversary breakfast.

Congrats on the Anniversary.

Not sure why you think the Queen’s Birthday is more important that your Anniversary.

If I had to rank their importance to me, your anniversary would be higher.

Stopping putting words in jim's mouth! That's why he said 'not sure'! Also jones I notice you never stated which you think is most important, so how can jim be expected to have a view? etc.

LOL

The best part about this was how, after the blowback, he said it was his 11 year-old daughter's idea and internet trolls ended up making a young girl sad.

So either (a) he stole his 11 year-old daughter's idea without giving her any credit, or, (b) he tried to dodge by throwing his 11 year-old daughter under the bus.

We had a very fine dinner(courtesy of moi) with champers. For dessert the curlson bought us a very fancy fruity flan. It was a "surprise", but as a complete coincidence I'd made custard just in case there was something for it to go with.
I am so full.

And if it was a), his daughter is an age where she's unlikely to be scrolling Twitter herself (she's actually 9) so her being upset means he probably passed on all of the trolls' feedback to her.

'Hey darling, this latest tweet says the person who dreamt this idea up should throw themselves on a bonfire! This is the last time I ever listen to one of your stupid ass suggestions!'

I want to know if older Jim went to the 80th birthday party?

Call me a filthy monarchist if you like but I would definately go check that out. I know the food in England can suck but there had to be at least a couple decent snacks there. I'd rent or buy clothes for an event like that, if needed.

It would literally be a street full of people eating sandwiches while dressed like this:

Yes he did, though he was no more a monarch fan than I am. Curiosity would have had me going too if there'd been an invite. He enjoyed it, and he spoke to the Queen for about three nanoseconds.

Incidentally, isn't it about time someone told me "OK Boomer"?

I might take the opportunity to go pee while the queen walked by others that lined up to say hi.

Then again I might find out the penalty for breaking protocol. Maybe say something like, "How's it goin'? I love The Crown on Netflix."

The penalty for breaking protocol is that a bunch of million year-olds who write for and/or read right wing newspapers would get upset and start getting misty-eyed for the days when schools still had corporal punishment and Nigeria was still a British colony.

"I went to London to visit my grandson, and if you walk round the streets near him you wouldn't even know you're in England!"
