CC Quarantine mental health check in.

Just making sure everyone is as ok as they are capable of being.

I am fairly happy.

I do want to go outside that house to buy things that I'm not even out of yet, like a litre of craft beer, maybe some cheese. Also some things I don't have and probably don't need, wraps, corned beef, pizza.

They should have shut down the void advertising both on friendface and the Global channel app.

How's everyone else?

I'm working. Come plague, pestilence, or war, Her Majesty's highways have to be kept in good repair.

We actually had three guys on voluntary self-quarantine, either because they just returned from abroad or because they live with somebody that did. Then yesterday we had an emergency highway closure that needed extra help, so they were told "f*ck you and your voluntary self-quarantine. It's all hands on deck."

Practiced social distancing by taking the kids way TF out in the woods and going shooting and riding yesterday. An excellent time....

Saw a person wearing a mask. Blue medical gloves on another. Huge lines outside of grocery stores.

There are lots of masks here less gloves but a fair amount.

My wife is trying to keep us in the house but I have gone for some drive through snacks. Yesterday I picked up some chicken wings and pizza. One of the guys at the pizza place was wearing a mask.

On Friday I had an in-person appointment for work I went to. It was awesome because it would usually have taken me 90 minutes to get to this location (one way) with traffic but I basically had the highway to myself and got there in 45. I forgot how fun driving is when you can just breeze down the street! Friday night I went for a jog.

On Saturday I went shopping. There was a four-person line at the check-out, however, they had put "X"s on the floor with electrical tape that were six feet apart so while queuing you were supposed to stand on an X. No one was wearing protective equipment except a handful of Asians who were wearing masks. All shelves were fully stocked except paper items and disinfectants. I bought the following: (a) Red Powerade, (b) Purple Powerade, (c) Jam, (d) Apples, (e) Honey.

I'm going hiking in a bit about an hour from here.

Tomorrow I'm going to the post office to mail a package.

My wife had me put on Ugly Delicious on the net flix. That made me want to go get supplies to make corned beef quesadilla. I have used self control to not go to the grocery store.

Now we are going to play Go Vacation. Uh, instead if going on vacation in Hawaii like we were supposed to do. :|

I had a decent day. Went to get my haircut, had a run round the park, made a few FaceTime calls to various family, did some laundry. Went to the supermarket to buy some frozen wontons and vinegar. All in all it was a pretty normal Sunday really.

There are so many of these. God bless the technological ineptitude of the boomers!

I don’t think Jennifer was a “Boomer”.

Not by the true definition of the word anyway.

Funny how Youtube pulled he video so fast!

No haircuts were I live... barbershops and salons are closed as you’re too close to people and they are no considered ‘vital’.

She was behaving like a boomer by accidentally leaving her webcam on while going to the toilet.

I don't know what to do about all these closed barbers. I'm gonna have to shave my head if no solution comes along quickly :(

I understand the modern slang use of the term.

Boomer itself originally was slang anyway... so kinda hard to bitch about the slang meaning of a ‘word’ changing with new slang.
I’m gonna anyway.

“Pew Research Center defines baby boomers as being born between 1946 and 1964. The United States Census Bureau defines baby boomers as "individuals born in the United States between mid-1946 and mid-1964."

So that means the youngest a ‘Boomer’ can be right now is 55. That chick in the video is probably in her late 20’s early 30’s.

I’m outside the ‘Boomer’ generation by over 5years... I think the 1964 date has been bumped, I remember it being 1946-1959 back in the the 70’s. My 15yo daughter has called me a ‘Boomer’ when I ask her something like “What’s a Snap Map”? She’s using the current slang meaning... even though she has NO IDEA what the original meaning of the term is. To me that’s ignorance... and so she then is required to listen to me talk about the Baby Boomeet Generation and WW2 etc. for at least ten minutes.

She thinks she’s so smart because I don’t use SnapChat... IMHO ‘why bother’ cause I know it’s gonna be outdated in 5 years. I’ve been “online” since before AOL, surfing the web using Mosiac. Who here can honestly claim they were online in 1992? My younger daughter tried to tell me the other day that “lol” mean “Laugh Out Load” and said this thinking I really didn’t know!!! She was telling me I should write “lol in lowercase, not caps”... I tried to explain that when something was just “a little funny, like worth a snicker... I’ll write lol; but when it’s really funny and I truly laugh out loud I wrote LOL”... she just rolled her eyes at me.

I tried finding a good modern slang definition for “Boomer”... the way I have seen it used is generally related to an older person’s inability to properly use technology... like the way you used it.... but the Urban dictionary doesn’t mention lack of technological prowess. The best I saw...
“boomer is a viral internet slang phrase used, often in a humorous or ironic manner, to call out or dismiss out-of-touch or close-minded opinions associated with the baby boomer generation and older people more generally."

So,I guess out-of-touch with technology.

Meanwhile... I might not use a “Snap Map” but I still can manage our home network and can lock my wise-ass 15yo out such that she can’t circumvent it. I don’t think that means I’m ‘great’ with technology, I’m ok, I think it says more about her lack of technological prowess.

I think I got you beat by almost a decade. I think the first time I used an online BBS was sometime in the winter of '83 to '84. Probably '84. Dial-up BBSes, of course. With 4800 baud modems! Apple II forever!

BBS boards were not technically part of the web... you were dialing up directly into the board.

Just saying.

We, bought corned beef and pastrami. Had to settle for Buddig.

I want some tater tots a bit now. There is meat sauce in the slow cooker and we're going to have it with macaroni.

Wife doesn't like spaghetti because it's too difficult for her to twirl.
