Medicinal mushrooms have a place in society. Institutes are being built around them. Vetrans benefit from them to prevent suicide. They are a natural alternative to the phamaceutical industry( so maybe they'd give more f*cks))

At the end of the day, people in California know what to do with them and are open minded enough to do further research for the rest of you Nancy's

They cannot choose which federal laws they want to enforce, they only have authority over state laws. Moving something across state lanes makes it federal.

If you look at immigration, Ca is obeying federal laws. Perhaps begrudgingly but they are.

Someone you know may own a ferret in CA, however they are breaking the law. It is just a state law they are breaking and in theory CA could decriminlize that (though they won't, it would be easier to just change the law). Right now, if caught they would be punished for their ferret, so in what world does that have anything to do with decriminalizing shipments of mushrooms across state lines? People in CA buy and consume mushrooms all the time now, just like people own ferrets. It's still illegal.

Maybe when you sober up and think about it you will realized how stupid this idea is.

The sheriff in a county or a governor in a state can choose which laws to turn the volume down on and which ones to focus on as trends change

Choosing to strictly enforce a law versus choosing to ‘let things slide’ is not the same as decriminalizing an act.

Decriminalizing something requires that you pass a law to change the act from a criminal act to a misdemeanor or civil violation.
Thus changing the penalty (on the books) from a possible jail sentence to a fine.

Furthermore you need to learn the difference between State actions and Federal actions.

Many states have legalized or decriminalized Marijuana, so it’s possible they could do the same with Mushrooms.
These acts do not change Federal laws. So it is still illegal to possess, sell, smoke Marijuana according to Federal statutes.
The Federal Gov’t has chosen to let this happen by inaction... however they still arrest and prosecute people shipping and selling large volumes of Marijuana outside the bounds of these State Laws... i.e. people not rolling the laws, and being registered, and paying taxes.

Furthermore, it’s still illegal to ship Marijuana across state lines. I could be wrong, but I’m pretty sure all the Marijuana sold here legally in Marijuana Dispensaries in Massachusetts is also grow in Massachusetts. This is so Massachusetts Authorities can regulate (and tax) the production and sale... and avoid violating additional Federal Laws that might bring down enforcement. (At least all the packages I’ve seen say “Grown in Massachusetts” on them.)

I find it odd that wmw freely offers his opinions, based nearly all on his experiences, with NO reference to cited materials or sources, but continues to denigrate those who express their views, which are often informed by reading and knowledge of the world.

You are poorly informed. Let me play out a little hypothetical of the adventure you are proposing...

You are an idiot who is uninformed about how Gov't/laws works, and you really want to bring in mushrooms from CO for your own 'medical use'.

You get a signed letter from the Governor and from the CA sheriffs association saying it's totally ok by them with a nice big rubber stamp saying you have full authority to do whatever you want in this regard and every CA institution is ok with it. You go to CO and get some mushrooms, and you make it back to CA without getting pulled over. Then the DEA shows up with swat teams and helicopters and takes you to federal 'pound you in the ass' prison for the next 30 years because you broke federal law and the sheriff and the governor have zero authority in this matter whatsoever.

Do you understand know why this was a stupid idea yet? If you want it to NOT be a stupid idea, then at least consider growing the mushrooms in CA rather than bringing them in from CO.

you are not mistaken, every state that has done any work on legalization only has the authority to do so within state lines. taking Marijuana across any state lines is still federally punishable.

Yes, you can choose to focus on enforcing laws depending on the politics of the current office.

Example is Obama choosing to not enforce federal raids on weed dispensaries during his administration whereas the Bush adminstration went to war on Eukia which was a large source of weed in CA

The admistration decides what to focus on

They literally have more pressing business. Decriminalizing and enacting new law takes more time

Not focusing on issues is a way to dip your toe in the water and take future action (kicking the can down the road)

This is how weed became legal in CA
