I'm for leaving the Middle East and Afghanistan. A base here or there is OK but sparse overall.

Doesn’t presence in the area encourage the US Military and our leaders to flex their muscle to advance our interests?

I’m not saying I agree with you... but I am asking the question... if you are gonna leave, isn’t it best to just leave?

I might keep Riyadh. The location is Strategic in many ways.

why did you put "American lives matter" in the title, HR? the US does far less dying than their opponents, for the most part. do you only care about the lives of US servicemen? - they signed up to serve in the armed forces, only fair to assume they were aware of the risks, no?

There is a cost to these deployments that can't be seen. Stress on the service members and their families. Long deployments are hard on equipment and humans alike.
