I found out about the Sudanese civil war through the BBC. No American troops were fighting there, so none of the American networks could give a shit to cover the story.

I followed the fascinating contradictions in the Italian election through the BBC. No American parties were fighting there, so none of the American networks could give a shit about following what was truly one of the most interesting elections of modern times.

The BBC and the English-language version of Deutsche Welle are the two networks I trust. Sadly, I can only get them when I'm on night shift, because in Canada they're only on the air in the middle of the night. Whenever I can tune in, I do.

Sure, you can find material, if you search for it, but that's not how most people get their news.

I rarely watch television; I was referring to radio. But the principles are the same. Whether it's television or radio, most people get their news pre-digested by a network of some kind, so it's important to have a network that's good.

Right. That's what's good about the BBC: they just put all the facts out there for you to make your own mind up about and are actually banned from expressing any kind of opinion or editorialising by the BBC constitution. Even on issues that most news outlets turn into a screeching mess about (e.g. Brexit, Trump, China) they generally manage to remain pretty fair and neutral.

Who are Deutsche Welle (i.e. who owns/controls them, what's their ethos)?

State-owned, but since 1960 has had an ethic of being independent in outlook.

Wrong. You do seem to obsess about precise quoting by other people, but you don't seem to apply the same standards to yourself.

The fact that someone at the Des Moines Register wrote an excellent article on the story is not something I could be expected to know. The Des Moines Register doesn't get delivered to my truck. Yes, if I did an internet search I could find it, but that's completely irrelevant. Without being part of their normal market, I have no way of knowing that I should search for a great article written by someone in Des Moines, nor do I have internet access in my truck to do the searching, and by the time I get home and get on the internet I have other things to do. The networks, who control the radio and television stations that most people rely on for news, did not cover it, which means 90% of the people didn't hear.

Do you own Citadel Broadcasting? iHeart Media? Fox? Then yes! If you don't, then you're forgiven.

29) Whitewashed reporting of Iraq invasion

Just on a quick scan, this one is obviously 100% wrong, since the BBC reported on whitewashing by the UK government. It's as if you blame Fox News for the Lewinsky scandal - they reported on it! I'd recommend actually reading the article, not just cut-and-pasting at random. Not to mention somebody criticizing something doesn't make it wrong, or factually incorrect.
