Underwater tricks

An American man took his partner to Tanzania and proposed to her by swimming to an underwater window she was stood next to and holding up a sign that said 'I can't hold my breath long enough to tell you everything I love about you', before turning it over to reveal a marriage proposal on the other side. Telling his partner all the things he loved about her turned out to not be the only thing he couldn't hold his breath long enough to do underwater, however, as shortly after getting out the piece of paper he drowned:

What wacky and also potentially lethal way would you like to propose to your partner?

I’m going to nominate this one for a Darwin Award right now!

The genome of humanity has been saved again.

Must be a pretty big balloon.

Did he actually drown? I read a couple articles about this, but neither mentioned a cause of death. I'm waiting to hear what he actually died of before I pass judgement. If he did really drown, it was a dumb move. But if it was something like a heart attack or getting stung by a poisonous fish or something, then those are just misadventures that could happen any time, and it's not necessarily something he did wrong.

betiko doesn't dislike them, he'd just rather not have too many of them hanging around nearby while he's trying to eat his dinner.
