Chaos in HK; capital should flee to New York

Chaos continued to grip Hong Kong as PLA auxiliaries are roaming the streets, attacking anyone wearing black.

It is no longer safe to do business in Hong Kong which is collapsing into a third world hell hole. Capital should immediately relocate to New York before it is expropriated!

London? It is facing chaotic Brexit uncertainty.

Singapore? HK in ten years.

Frankfurt? The leader is dying and the country is falling under increasing influence of extremist politicians from the AfD.

Only NYC, defended by two oceans, 270 years without a sovereign default and under TRUMP's protection is safe.

Actually, Vancouver is one of the choice destinations for Hong Kong's elite.

OP means Shanghai.

Trump has made it abundantly clear that he hates international trade and is happy to pour more and more taxes onto his domestic companies as punishment for trading with foreigners. He is also presiding over a sharp rise in racist hate crimes against anyone non-white, fuelled in no small part by his constant racist discourse that recently culminated in him telling non-white people to leave the country. The slaughter of American citizens by their own police force has also continued unchecked on his watch. If Hong Kongers were to move to America they would likely get off the plane, have all their money and possessions impounded by the American government, be beaten by a racist mob, and then thrown out of the country.

Shanghai, by comparison, is a welcoming city run by a trade-friendly government, and with a much more comfortable and low-cost standard of living than any American hellhole could ever offer. China is also a country that welcomes foreigners, pouring money on foreign researchers, business people and students to encourage them to move to China. Even better is that Shanghai offers peace, stability and a pleasant public life. Residents don't have to walk around carrying more guns than the average soldier just to stay safe, because the streets of major Chinese cities are infinitely safer than the streets of America.

That's even better.

Migrants go to Canada, their money goes to USA.

So you’re saying from the Chinese point of view “Hong Kongers” are foreigners?

Ok... yes! Hong Kong is now an independent country!

I think the riots will end now.

So are Taiwanese also foreigners?

Slip of the tongue. I was just contrasting Trump's America and its hostility to foreigners with China's open-to-all nature.

Hong Kongers, as fellow countrypersons/tongbaomen, are especially welcome to Shanghai.

Mrswdk keeps slipping his tongue into places he shouldn't.

I understand, we all have these verbal / forum typed flubs.

See XXXXX, you don’t have to beat someone up just because they make a typo or ‘misspeak’/‘flub’ a word slightly.

You can all guess who XXXXX is...

I've been in earthquake(s) before and probably will again. Earthquakes are unpreventable but human behavior is a choice.

This is exactly how everyone sensible knew HK would end up. You can take HK out of China but you can't take China out of HK.
