This Forum used to be extremely active and addictive.

What happened?

I see some familiar faces, but a lot have left?

Did they just tire out of ranting and raving (like I kinda did)... or has there been some changes with moderation under the new ownership?

Some rage quit over the sub forum but I'm not sure that's what you are seeing.

It's just been a long, steady bleed.

I mean, I often viscerally hated most of the blokes that appear to be gone.... but that was ‘the sport’ of this place.

Those guys probably just wandered off mostly.

Well there was a weird attempt to quarantine really obnoxious posters by having a subforum at one point. One of the first posts was just a member using the N-word over and over directed at an African-American poster he'd had disagreements with, as you'd expect. It alienated a lot of people as discussing the new hate forum was subject to a ban. Essentially the safe space for some of the more virulent hate on CC became a secret safe space for some pretty vile stuff.

CC amended their rules, but the targets were never allowed to discuss the hate they received in CC's secret forum openly without threat of a ban. It caused a lot of anger.

So, yeah, that was part of it.

So they had to pretend that the person who spewed the hate in the ‘secret forum’ didn’t really do that?

I mean it’s maybe a good idea to have a ‘flame wars’ area.... and maybe limit access to that area based on the age of participants... and maybe say ‘no copy and paste’ from that forum to this one... but to make people pretend that it never existed? Sounds weird.

Even mentioning that it existed at all was a bannable offence at the time. I understand the idea behind it, but it had the opposite effect of what was intended. The bloke who posted the N word over and over and over is still a poster. He's largely untouchable at this point.

The Major decline followed endless posts about coins, silver and gold. Ruined the place.

Nah, the bloke you and I had that endless argument about over his kiddie-fiddling pics. Not wanting to go over old ground, but the amount of stuff he's gotten off of a perma-ban would be impressive if didn't include the stuff he gets off on.

Hah- not afraid exactly- the rules got kinda weird with that guy. He's currently using a paedobear avatar, Guess that's his victory lap.

I wouldn't even know how to check. Maybe ask one of the mods how many posters are using pedo-bear avatars? They keep a record long after most other stuff is deleted.
