There's quite a few similarities between how Israel came about and the caliphate. Illegal immigration, terrorism and the treatment of the local population. The balfour declaration had promised the Jews a homeland in 1918 I think, partly due to the relationship between the Balfours and Rothschilds. The British government of the 40s was a little more compassionate towards the Arabs in Palestine.

So the British had to be terrorized and pushed to use up more money which they were short of after the war. The Zionists brought in lots of normal Jews illegally too. Eventually the Zionist controlled UN partitioned Palestine. Nowadays we think of Israel as being a legitimate country, maybe in 70 years people will see a caliphate as a legitimate country also?

USA was in ww1 before the balfour declaration. American influence was not what it is today either.
