Trump recognizes US-backed head of Venezuela’s opposition

Postby armati on Wed Jan 23, 2019 4:41 pm

"Today, I am officially recognizing the President of the Venezuelan National Assembly, Juan Guaido, as the Interim President of Venezuela," Trump said in statement.

He called the Maduro government "illegitimate" and "directly responsible for any threats" posed to the Venezuelan people.

I know its fake news till ya see it on cnn cause RT is all Russian propaganda, but it's interesting Ram posted yesterday Venezuela is a target.

Think it was yesterday, the day before? I forget.

Good call Ram.

Maduro says he’s cutting off relations with US, orders diplomats out

Venezuela kicked out the skilled oil companies that knew how to efficiently extract the heavy oil. Downhill from there.

Syria had half the population rise up and no leader. Venezuela has a very passive population but has a named leader. Stay tuned.

More RT propaganda

"US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has refused to pull diplomats from Caracas, arguing the government that severed diplomatic ties with the US is not legitimate and threatening ‘appropriate actions’ if anyone is endangered."

Maduro is correct to expel US diplomats. An ambassador must be accredited. If the US ambassador is unwilling to present his credentials to Maduro then he is in Venezuela as a tourist, not a diplomat.

I fail to understand how people can claim Venezuela has rigged elections when the opposition party controls congress.

Venezuelan army disavows self-proclaimed leader, will defend national sovereignty – defense minister

The Venezuelan military will not accept a president imposed by “dark interests,” Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino said after Washington and a number of its allies recognized a lawmaker as the new leader in Caracas.
The army will continue to defend the constitution and national sovereignty

"Dark Interests" .....kind of an understatement imo.

I just don't see any future being involved in Venezuela. Oil is cheep in the USA. I wonder if this is more the State Department and not so much Trump.

Both Russia and China support Maduro and always have.

The Chinese have fleets off the coast of Venezuela both military and oil workers.
China has recently stopped buying oil from the states.
Venezuelan oil could be important to China.

There have been reports of the Venezuelan army moving to the Colombian border and Chinese military moving into Venezuela.

From Reuters on September 14:

China and Venezuela had signed a “memorandum for cooperation in Ayacucho bloc 6,” located in Venezuela’s vast oil-rich Orinoco Belt, without elaborating.

China will drill 300 wells in Ayacucho and extend $184 million in financing for the joint oil venture Petrozumano, the statement added. A source at Venezuelan state oil company PDVSA , who asked to remain anonymous because he is not allowed to speak to media, said oil services and procurement at Sinovensa would be handled by Chinese companies.

The funniest part is that the National Assembly said Maduro wasn't president because he refused to present a certified copy of his birth certificate, as there was a suggestion he was born in Colombia. The standards the U.S. sets for other countries are anathema to itself.

Putin warned the U.S. to stay out of Venezuela, offered 6 billion in loans and sent 400 mercenaries to protect Maduro.

Canada like a good dog follows the U.S., one Canadian politician has the balls(Sven Robertson) to tell the truth and state that Canada should not support the coup.

Maduro is an uneducated bus driver/bodyguard/militant who never even graduated high school. Guaido is an industrial engineer with two postgraduates in public administration. Which one's more suitable for presidency?

Don't be insensitive. I do believe 'Centaur' is the appropriate term.

If the americans/neocons, pull off this openly public coup, they will be appointing the leaders forever.

Not that they havnt been for decades, but in the public view is kind of a significant change.

The only significant change I see is that we haven't bombed them or sent armies to Ven. The US has generally done their deposing of foreign leaders out in the light and only a few in the dark.
