"The former England and Manchester United captain ..."
I mean really.
It's Man U
Good thing he didn't arrive in a NYC airport (Kennedy)

Man City / NYCFC >>>>>>> Man U / DC U 8-)

P.S. He plays in the US now, stop calling him a foreign national.

I'll keep some of these quotes handy for the next time a bunch of butthurt Americans come crying in OT about how mean and nasty the Chinese govt is when it punishes people for doing something that isn't illegal in America.

Any thoughts on religious freedoms in China?

People in China are free to be religious, although most people in the country are stated atheists.

I sense you have plenty of your own thoughts though.

Religions, on the other hand, are not free in any matter whatsoever.
And it's hard to be religious when the government limits your religious expression to state controlled institutions.

Serves him right, we're trying to run a civilized country here. This ain't Leicester on a Saturday night.

Also, I was unaware there were any English players in the NFL but congrats to Mr Rooney for achieving his dreams in any case. I hadn't heard of him before.

I stand corrected - John Smith was born in Old England but became a placekicker for the New England Patriots from 1974 to 1983.

So there's at least John Smith and this Wayne Rooney guy who have played in the NFL and are from Old England.

It's the MLS, you know the league that doesn't swap out the players every 15 seconds, with constant breaks and halves divided in half.

ASSOCIATION Football.

Oh and no helmets either.

Never met an Englishman with the slightest interest in American football, or anyone of any nationality for thatmatter. We grow our of playing catch by 7 and look for more skilful sports.

To be honest, American football is really rough on the pitch. I've been told that every time they have a special game in London the pitch gets especially torn up. I think most of the fields in the US are AstroTurf these days. The comment of a Rugby football fan seems appropriate, "Too many damn committee meetings."
