In 2017, there were 7,697 alcohol-specific deaths in the UK:

In contrast, there were only 56 MDMA-specific deaths and 29 cannabis-specific deaths:

What is a "cannabis specific death"?

Someone gets baked and has a fatal accident or something I suspect.

Or are they are counting it if someone gets cannabis laced with a toxin?

Also why can't Apple spell cannabis, I notice google does not want to help either. I suppose I should relax and just spell it wrong but then betiko will bully me about it,

Those drug-related death stats are for deaths where the cause of death was drug poisoning or death due to drug abuse or addiction, and cannabis was mentioned on their death certificate.

Alcohol-related death numbers are deaths due to alcohol-specific conditions, not counting things like having an accident while drunk or cancers/liver problems that may or may not be partially attributable to alcohol use.

Pretty much.

It isn't news, but it is still the truth. Alcohol and tobacco do far more damage worldwide than any illegal drugs.

Ok, so fill me in. I'm not aware of how cannabis can cause harm besides brain damage or lung problems from smoke. Or are they all respiratory deaths?

What I really want to know is how many Brexit-related deaths there are.

Brexit is actually expected to contribute to a baby boom, so it will expand rather than shrink the population.

I remember reading someone's conspiracy theory about how recreational drugs have been used to weaken society.

I'm with dimes, I'd like to know the specifics on the cannabis related deaths. From everything I've heard you would have to smoke your body weight in pot to overdose on it, which is impossible to do without passing out long before you reach it. So aside from lung problems I don't see how they can call it a cannabis related death?

I'll guess there might be some list if people that died from cannabis if you click enough links and download things.

That was like a Choose a Your Own Adventure Book. I was not going to down load anything. I just don't care enough.

I'm guessing it's kind of like water. People have died from drinking too much and having their brain swell or something.

I'm not sure we can conclude water is dangerous but someone could throw out the stats trying to make that claim.

This discussion possibly makes the point of your OP, presuming you were saying there are lots of things worse than the weed, booze being one.

It’s possible to get various types of cannabis oils from its on-line store [Mod Edit- TFO]. Because it is easy to follow and there is absolutely no need to count calories. When smoking it, you are going to detect a combination of sweetness and spice. Some arthritis sufferers also have profited from swallowing this particular strain of health cannabis. Lighter nutrients are valued, as with the vast majority of Sativas. If you’re afflicted with pain, anxiety, and nausea, Nuclear Cookies may furnish you merely the relief you want.

You're using a thread about cannabis related problems to try to sell cannabis oil? Ok.

How many deaths has your product caused?

It's actually a thread about alcohol deaths. Alcohol is the number one most menacing drug and our governments actually profit off taxing the misery of millions. End alcohol now.

Prohibition does not work! It only enriches criminals....duh. Might as well fund government aka communities to treat those addicted, hic-up.

Cannabis was mentioned on death certificates.
My guess is that listing it is just the procedure and is not a contributor to death at all.

uks drug problem might be alcohol, so is anywhere its consumed.

In 2002, alcohol was responsible for 4,258 deaths in Canada,

In Canada, opioids are now considered a big deal, the pharmaceuticals have got alot of people addicted and every city has opioid related deaths on a regular basis.

In 2017, there were 3,987 deaths linked to the use of opioids in Canada, alcohol is still the big one tho.

Basically any drug that impairs decision making will be included in a death certificate if it requires an investigation. Cannabis does impair judgement, so would likely be listed as a factor if someone was to crash their car and cause a fatal accident.

Here's my two cents anyway- it's easy to say that cannabis and it's other stronger versions don't cause harm or death. They do though. It's just not always direct.

The comparison with alcohol is good. If you die while drunk, your death certificate may well mention alcohol. Drive while high as a kite- same.

Marijuana related deaths will be people who died with thc in their system, there would in almost all the cases be other narcotics present in their system at the time of death too. Government statistics!

Ok, I agree the over use of alcohol is obviously deadly. Which is interesting and a bit strange, since there are many health benifits from moderate use.

Like all things I guess. A bit of water is great, too much and you drown. A few American aircraft are great, too many and all the world's children die in airline disasters. ad nauseum

Are we making everything that could kill someone illegal in this thread? How about sugar... or dogs?
