Some of my labmates have family in the area. It's looking pretty bad. Sounds like it might be a wicked storm surge.

Indeed.....can't even imagine shit like that.

My bud won't leave his animals, so he's in for the duration. He bought a generator, went to pick it up and the store was closed...apparently the manager took off unannounced. He can see it in the window....probly get looted this weekend by someone. Damn....

Im not sure I understand how people all along that coast can not be prepared for these storms.

My brother in law is stationed in the Charleston area, but they were all evacuated several days ago. It looks like it will be a rough one.

I'm sick of Hurricane Florence for many reasons.

First, it seems like it's been hours away from hitting North Carolina for the last week.

Second, this is typical eastern centrism. Anytime there's a disaster on the east coast the news screams it at you for a month. However, the gates of Hell could open in the West and it would get a two sentence mention below the latest Kardashian news. I recall when the town of Oso got wiped off the map and the Fake News (CNN) that night led with a crane collapse in Manhattan that injured three.

The gates of hell have been opened in California for years. It's old news Saxi.

PLACES OR BUILDINGS ARE EVACUATED, NEVER PEOPLE. GROSS.

He should build an ark or something. Maybe a really big canoe.

I must have been reading different news than Saxi given that all I read for two months was about California wildfires.

Tell us stories of your evacuation.

Did you drive your own car at 55 mph while stopping at DQ en route or were you helicoptered away from your rooftop by the Coast Guard at the last minute?

Are you staying at a Holiday Inn Express with free continental breakfast or are you on a cot in an overcrowded FEMA shelter trading sexual favors for food?

Don't make this like your shitty Australia thread where you provide no detail.

OK you got me there.

However, after two weeks of build up from the Fake News I expect nothing less than Day After Tomorrow style destruction when Florence finally hits. I think those of us watching from home have earned it after sitting through all this huffing and puffing.
