All right manno....this is a cool veggie I've been growing for several years...Miniature sour mexican gherkins. Also known as mouse melons or sanditas. You ever see these in ol Mayheeko? They're like an inch long and look like tiny watermelons but they are actually a very distinct sour cuke.

I pickle them with some hot peppers and garlic. LOVE THEM.

those look so very cute, KB & i want to try them.

i've never seen those KB, but i just read they originate in Mexico and Central America.

The plant is a climbing vine....fuckers absolutely EXPLODE and take over wherever you plant them. Made a fence thingy next to a bin of peppers and you cant see the pepper plants any more....lol. At this point, I have to pick every day thru like september to keep up. Can maybe 2-4 jars a day.....amazing.

Can you slice one open and show the inside? It there a nut on the inside? I'd like to grow them.

It is a cucumber....just tiny and somewhat sour. No nut, just cuke meat ;o) I will do that, just gotta find the time to upload to fotofucket etc....lol.

Also kb... how is your spelling even remotely close from the pronounciation of the philosopher's name?
It's a hard one to spell, but at least try something that sounds the same!


For the record... it's pronounced neetchah /neetchuh somewhere in between

Around here it is usually pronounced - neet chee. "Neet" and "Neat" would sound identical.

Though sometimes the end is hard A instead of hard E.
