Omarosa plays the race card...yet again.

Omarosa ...just the word divides people. She was the most hated and cheered for contestant on The Apprentice. Then was a loyal supporter and member of the White House. Then she was unceremoniously removed under unknown circumstances. Now her Trump tell all has hit the stands.

Donnie learned it from his father the slum lord. Woody Guthrie wrote a song about the racist Trump.

Luckily I don't watch a lot of TV. I watched exactly one episode of The Apprentice, realized it was bogus, never watched it again. I neither know nor care to know much more about Omarosa than what I see in the daily headlines. I think this whole spat is pretty funny.

However, speaking of The Apprentice, it's interesting to hear what Penn Jillette learned from being on The Apprentice:

Old Man Trump
Words by Woody Guthrie, Music by Ryan Harvey

I suppose that Old Man Trump knows just how much racial hate
He stirred up in that bloodpot of human hearts
When he drawed that color line
Here at his Beach Haven family project

Beach Haven ain't my home!
No, I just can't pay this rent!
My money's down the drain,
And my soul is badly bent!
Beach Haven is Trump’s Tower
Where no black folks come to roam,
No, no, Old Man Trump!
Old Beach Haven ain't my home!

I'm calling out my welcome to you and your man both
Welcoming you here to Beach Haven
To love in any way you please and to have some kind of a decent place
To have your kids raised up in.

Beach Haven ain't my home!
No, I just can't pay this rent!
My money's down the drain,
And my soul is badly bent!
Beach Haven is Trump’s Tower
Where no black folks come to roam,
No, no, Old Man Trump!
Old Beach Haven ain't my home!

Pretty much this. My favourite parts of the whole thing-

1) The Trump White House was apparently universally terrified of her.
2) Much of what she claims is both completely absurd, and yet entirely plausible. Trump wanting to be sworn in on The Art of the Deal, rather than the Bible to boost sales? If that's a lie, it's borderline genius.
3) Turns out the Trump administration tries to force all its staff to sign NDAs to not criticise Mike Pence's family (as well as the Trump's of course). Weird.
4) Apparently Trump once ate a document so it wouldn't be preserved for the archives. Nixon was clearly a moron when it came to destroying evidence.*

*Now you may think this sounds unbelievable, but do read this article:

Meet the guys who tape Trump's papers back together

Everything about this is hilarious.

I find her confusing. She got fame, fortune, and a White House gig from Trump. She was also HUGE supporter during the campaign and at the WH. Even NPR (anti Trump radio) thinks most of her claims are bogus. Beyond the money angle who is she scoring points with? Not NPR, not Trump, not future historians that will likely dismiss her book.

She's an apprentice of Trump, HR. He trained her, and now she's a master at it too.

It just seems short sided to me (beyond the money). She's NOT the new media darling, Trump is merciless against his detractors. Where did she win? From what I here historians won't be referencing this.

My gut feeling is she had a ghost writer, didn't read the script, and will end up distancing herself from her own book.

Hmm, you're a bit hung up on the idea of what kind of information future historians may or may not use, so I'll address that first. A decent historian will assess all relevant sources, but will take into account their provenance, and the context in which they were written.

Sean Spicer, for example, has written a book recently too, and although it is pretty silly ([Donald Trump is] "a unicorn, riding a unicorn over a rainbow", being a prime example), the revelation that he is not legally allowed to criticise Trump or Pence, or their families via an NDA will be taken into account.

Neither Manigault nor Spicer can be considered reliable, but that doesn't mean their books can be dismissed. Historians are trained to assess bias.

Finally, we have literally no way of knowing at this point how future historians will look back on Manigault's book. Some of the stuff that was initially dismissed as bogus has evidence now- certainly her recording of Kelly suggests as much. We don't know how much of her account will be supported by other sources.

As is, it's certainly a document I'd use to write a history of the Trump era.

Yup, so the next problem with your argument is the "race card".

You know that Trump has played that card a lot, right? It's barely even a card in that tired metaphor at this point. It's a large part of his deck.

Personally, I believe Manigault that Trump is a racist, but not based on her words. I think she just backs up what every sensible person knows and has evidence for. This is just a common-sense argument.

What I have trouble with is this- how could she succeed within a racist organisation without backing the racists at various points? I think that people are uncomfortable with her because she took those attacks and worked through them. Ambitious, clever, manipulative, deceitful. These are qualities admired and respected to advance in Trump's world.

How could she possibly advance if she called people out?

Bannon, Manafort, Pruitt, McMaster, Tillerson, Cohn, Price... Omarosa.

Manigault entered the White House as someone barely considered by the WH and the press as worthy of being referred to by her name in the same way that other white male employees are.

Red, have you read Omarosa's book?

You mention a ghost writer. What makes you think that? I'm pretty curious now, I can't imagine buying it but I might have to seek out a copy at the library.

Really not all that hard to figure out or understand. Both Trump and Omarosa are always thinking about what is best for them. And only Them. Trump kept her around because she was good for the rating when
she was on the show and she like Trump is always calculating .. how can I make this about Me and good for Me.

NPR interviewed her on Friday. Really grilled her. Normally anyone anti-Trump gets a pass (think about a porn star, but not too much ;) ) and Omarosa didn't even agree with passages IN HER OWN BOOK. Makes me think she used a ghost writer.

Shes having a Dr. Jekyll Mr Hind moment. 10 years of supporting Trump then out of now where (I wasn't even expecting this) is the tell all book. I was expecting a book though.

Makes me think she just forgot the lies she wrote looking for attention.

If Drumpht is a racist she should just shut up so it can be revealed sooner. She has no credibility since she claimed the exact opposite during the campaign.

She was one of the main exhibits for the defense in that case.

Nailed it.

Possibly the Donald is guilty, interesting that she had to know from before, he's not exactly shy.

Oh but as a strong black woman she still has no problem helping him hide his ways if it means she can add White House experience to her resume.

This is in character or, lack of..

You know how during a magic trick the magician calls your attention towards where he wants, so he can use slight of hand where you aren't looking....
