I have kids. They love the idea of putting a tooth under their pillow and finding a dollar in the morning. It's called the tooth fairy.

The thought of someone entering my house at night to exchange former body parts for money is Creepy.

Well, this is a part of Culture. It reaches into the past and in some strang ways walks with us into the future.

When our daughter lost her first tooth my wife with good intentions found this cool play set she intended swapping for the tooth.

I intervened, you can't set a precedent like that. My wife was puzzled, "Don't worry I found it on clearance and it was really cheap."

The poor kid has no idea about how much it cost, give her that and soon enough, she will be knocking her own teeth out to trade up for big prizes. The tooth got swapped for a dollar and the play set was saved for another time as a gift.

Santa, the Tooth Fairy, the Sandman... a lot of Western culture does seem to revolve around grown adults breaking into people's houses and interfering with their children.
