I think he can act dumb at times, but I don't think he is an idiot. That is just opinions between us all. What isn't opinion, and is fact, is that the media is unwilling to report any positive Trump news. Which could tie into why his "rating" is so low: because the general public don't see any positive news coming from the media. It's all biased, and is being used to push an agenda.
Jd you are basically answering your own question. Why does the media not have alot of bad to say right now about Obama(I'd argue there was plenty of bad obama news in the media when he was president but that is a separate issue), and they seem to not have alot of good stories about trump?
Well, two reasons. One; Trump acts dumb sometimes and Obama didn't ever act dumb. If you are a rational person and not karel, you should be able to see that over time media has always favored people that are charismatic, and neged people that... act dumb (nixon/kennedy). That would be true regardless of party, as it was in the time before all news media claimed or were forced into one side or the other.
Reason Two; Trump declared War on all media before he even started running. Why on earth would CNN report good things about him, when he labeled them fake news? Ethics of the news media aside, he also hasn't done one centerpiece great thing the whole country (not just half) can rally around that the mainstream media could actually get behind (you could potentially argue the tax reform bill may have changed that, though the jury is still out on that). What exactly would you have him claim fully as his own as a great thing he's done to change the current tone of the media? Trump doesn't have more media allies because he acted like a dumbass and said stupid hateful things and pissed all over everyone on his way to the top. He said f*ck you to the media on the back of Steve Bannon, and now what CNN is supposed to deify him?
My statement was about Obama over his entire 8 years as president. The media never talked about him the way they talk about Trump. Never. While Trump and Obama are not the same in style as far as how they speak, Trump called CNN fake news because some of their major headlines were fake news. Did you not see that video (as I am sure you did) about CNN purposefully pushing the Trump collusion with Russia, even though it was hogwash? That's just one example. That was a major CNN blunder. And that is just CNN, and not any of the other news organizations out there (like WaPost, HuffPost, NYTimes, etc...)
As far as what Trump has accomplished, so far it hasn't been what it could have been. For some reason, the Republicans are fighting him. And it is bewildering to me. The Republicans control the House and Senate, and only the tax bill has been passed this year (that has been really major). They should be getting a lot more done. But the Republicans, for whatever reason, are fighting Trump. Trump said since he took office on day 1, that he was waiting for the Republicans to have a healthcare bill that he would sign. But they have bumbled around. It really gets under my skin.
I really appreciate how you are responding like a sane person JD. I agree that most mainstream media is dead set against him, I think we might just have different opinions on why that is. I think if trump hadn't declared war on the media back in 2015, he wouldn't have so many reporters that don't want him to succeed. I think trump made the bed he is sleeping in. At the end of the day one of the main things we rely on the Media to do for us as citizens is to bring to light lies made by public officials... would you agree?
Since 2015, Politifact has counted three hundred and twenty-nine public statements by Trump that it judges to be mostly or entirely false. (In comparison, its count of such misstatements by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is thirteen.)
I don't know if you view politifact as a left wing organization or not. I don't really...but I'm sure plenty of people will claim they are idk.
http://www.politifact.com/personalities/barack-obama/http://www.politifact.com/personalities/donald-trump/To me this is why the media is bent against trump... He lies, and quite directly to the media. He lies so much and so often, what would you have the media do? Just echo chamber all the lies, exaggerations and bellicosity?
Frankly, I think if trump wanted to speak to america through the media he easily could. Any reporter from any news agency would jump at the chance to interview him, regardless of the terms he would set for the interview. But he doesn't, partially for strategic reasons, partially because he isn't very good at no saying something stupid during these interviews.
