Well I know someone who made a phone call on it, and it was the coolest phone call ever

My friend works at the Apple Store. He sings its praises.

I am unconvinced by the advertising campaign, though. They say it's "the real internet"... but it's the internet without Java support!! What kind of internet is that?? That's why the ads show the NYT website--a totally basic, unflashy site, not very representative of the internet in general.

Anyway, in the future I'll buy something similar oriented towards PCs that doesn't cost $600 or when inflation has made $600 seem a reasonable price to pay for a phone and mp3 player.

I find it unrealistic that it doesn't have java support because my 50$ phone has java support.

My good friend has been drooling over it for almost a year, every since the rumors started. Now he has to wait until someone other than AT&T will have it with their service plans because he refuses to switch away from Sprint.

It kind of makes me laugh at the anguish he goes through because of it.

no its not, it is really normal. Every phone company has this, and every phone ever released has its period where it only has one service provider, its incentive to go to a company. You just don't like it because you don't have AT&T.
