That line about 'hirelings and slaves' isn't even a reference to the African slave trade. Rather, it's making reverence to the enslaved subjects of Mother England.

Why would you even change the line... when it's clearly a case of numbnuts not even trying to understand the verse? They see the word slave they think they own the monopoly of its meaning. Next time they open a PC and they see a slave and a master hard drive they will ask all PCs with such configuration to be shut down for good.
