Actually, this reminded me of something that's always bothered me.

You know how in films, right, yer hero is faced with a padlocked door or gate or summin, right, but they need to get through this door or gate, 'cos they're chasing some baddies, right, so they shoot the padlock at point blank range, and then they're able to kick the door or gate open, 'cos the padlock's fucked. Right?

Well, the thing that bothers me, isn't shooting the padlock at point blank range, well, unconscionably dangerous, even for the likes of Steven Segal?

Isn't running up to a locked door with a bunch of presumably also heavily armed bad guys chasing you even more unconscionably dangerous?

Solution: don't run away down dead ends.
